I think you should try CM 12 or CM 11. -

I upgraded my Nokia X2 to Android 7 Nougat but that was very buggy... Then I Installed Android 6 MM it was better than 7 but still so many bugs... In Short, Yeah there are options to upgrade but they are worthless....
