Instead of releasing old phones in new clothes, Nokia should make cheap and simple S40 touchscreen phones. Look how Samsung Star and Corby are selling so well...Sometimes i think all Nokia engineers have been on holidays for a long time...

ss, 09 Oct 2009Ya i know s60 is smartfone like.
But somebody here has pos... moreThere may be some visual similarities but they're totally different software platforms.
Making an analogy with Microsoft XP and Vista doesn't even paint a correct picture. Vista is just an upgraded version of XP. Much like S60 5th Ed vs 3rd Ed.
It would be better to relate to incandescent and flourescent light bulbs. Both have similar functionality but the other one is different with regards to how it works and is better overall when basing on functionality and capability.
Flourescent bulbs are brighter, more energy efficient and lasts longer.
S60 has multitasking, third party software support, and more customizable.

But somebody here has posted symbian and s40 are different, but actually s40 belongs to symbian. I am not talking about s60(another version of symbian), which is a far more superior to s40.

elo sirs,
with regards to series 40 and series 60
series 60 is designed as a smartphone, in which PDA like features are included in the handset...these are phones which are "pc like" in nature
you can install verious programs, highly sophisticated programs which upgrades the functionality of the phone, just like a computer
series 60 phones are usually equipped with fast processors, video card, etc to be more capable of handling advanced multimedia tasks such as playing HD videos, different file formats, games etc...
and its focus is more on office
series 40-are phones which acts, like what a phone is expected to be, series 40 specializes in basic function of what is expected in a phone, like ease of texting, great hardware for calling, ease of using its multimedia features (albeit simple compared to series 60) and the general costumizability of the phone is simple, yet focuses on the fun aspect of it like themes (which are more grand than series 60 ones, complete with animated backgrounds, flash, costumized ringtones etc)
