Nokia XR21 relaunched as HMD XR21
HMD silently announced its first rugged 5G smartphone – the XR21. If that name rings a bell, it’s because the device is a carbon copy of the Nokia XR21 which was announced in May last year.

HMD’s XR21 comes with the same specs and looks as the Nokia XR21 with the only difference being the HMD logo in place of the Nokia one. As a reminder, the Nokia/HMD XR21 brings a 6.49-inch IPS LCD screen with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.
The device is MIL-STD-810H military-grade certified and features IP69K certification – the highest ingress protection rating against water and dust. You also get a Snapdragon 695 SoC, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage as well as a 64MP main cam and 8MP ultrawide lens. The battery comes in at 4,800 mAh and supports 33W charging.
HMD XR21 ships with Android 13 out of the box and is promised two years of OS upgrades and three years of security updates.
HMD XR21 comes in a single Midnight Black color and retails for €600 in its 6/128GB trim. Interestingly enough HMD is still selling the Nokia-branded XR21 for €400 but those units are listed as low stock.
