Nothing OS 2.5.5a with ChatGPT is now landing on the Nothing Phone (2a)
Nothing's rollout of ChatGPT onto its devices is now complete. Following the Nothing Phone (2) (which you can purchase from Nothing) last month and the Nothing Phone (1) less than 24 hours ago, now it's time for the more affordable Nothing Phone (2a) (also available at Nothing) to get its taste of the AI goodness, in the form of Nothing OS 2.5.5a, which is now rolling out.
This brings with it the much anticipated ChatGPT integration, which gives you a new gesture option in the Nothing X app for starting a voice conversation with the chatbot. This works via the recently launched Nothing Ear (which you can buy from Nothing) and Nothing Ear (a) (also available from Nothing) earbuds. You get some ChatGPT widgets for your home screen too, and a new button on the screenshot and clipboard popups to directly paste content into a new conversation with ChatGPT.
That's all very exciting stuff indeed, but this update has even more stuff baked in. The camera gets optimized color consistency by adjusting the white balance and color bias at lower temperatures, improved portrait brightness in HDR scenes by matching specific user skin tones, improved app opening performance, and some abnormal noise issues in portrait mode have been resolved.
Further enhancements include a better visual display of battery levels in the Battery widget, an improved power-saving mode "to ensure vibrations for calls and notifications remain active", an AI-powered algorithm for smarter auto-brightness adjustments, increased smoothness when swiping down to expand Quick Settings, improved fluidity when unlocking, and an issue where the other party couldn't hear you when connecting to Android Auto has been fixed.
As always, the update should be going out in stages, so don't fret if you haven't received the notification yet. It should arrive in a few days at most.
