terrible phone,, worst one i've ever had.... SLOW,, ie, delete message ?,,, deleting message, pause, message deleted, pause, then you're good to go. if you lose the signal while you're talking you get no warning that the call has terminated, so you end up talking to nobody. only got this phone cause its from the company i work for. can't wait for it to break so i can get a decent phone !

excellent phone for work use-no frills and lasts for ages between charges. No camera or music player but as i have my own business talk time is really important-had it for a year or so with no problems-10 out of 10

Easily the best mobile I have ever had, I'm not a heavy user, just making calls and texting so I don't need the extra frills. Battery life is brilliant, I only need to charge it every 3 weeks or so and I always know its not going to let me down when I need it. Controls are intuitive and easy to master and the phone is well built and has worked faultlessly for over 2 years now. Recommended if you can still find it!

I figured out how to configure the browser/internet on this phone. Before you set up the profile & bearer settings, reset the factory defaults!
Then go and find the settings for your network. I'm putting the settings for AT&T below:
Under Bearer Settings

I don't think the settings are any different than they were the first time (when I first posted), but something must have changed from the factory reset! Woohoo!
.... would you believe this is a problem I spent many hours trying to figure out, even e-mailing O2 over a couple of weeks to get help? Unbelievable that all this took was resetting the phone.

P.S. Multimedia messages now work too - just make sure to go to the settings, create (or edit) a profile for the settings within your network. Below are the settings for AT&T:

Great phone with less price.ringing volume is comparatively less compared to other.Audio player is not upto the mark.Battery life-superb.congrants O2

To remove the battery cover, simply slide the cover upwards (towards the top of the phone).

How do I remove the cover to access the battery and SIM card slot? The manual assumes one knows how to do this and does not provide instructions.

The software provided by O2 for the O2 Jet is solely for synchronizing the phone & Microsoft Outlook. If you need that software, it has been uploaded to Rapidshare (as of today, September, 7th, 2007) and will remain available until it 90 have passed since the last download.

1. Excellent battery life.
2. Excellent bluetooth feature.
3. Though doesnt have a full featured audio player but still can play audio one file at a time. Good for my 2 year daughter to play with her songs. Added advantage is it has capability to play .wma files also though not mentioned anywhere.
4. GPRS is fine an i could fully customise it to use here in India with Airtel network. Though i havent configured it for internet with a PC so not sure about that.
5. I dont find anything wrong in the phone.
6. Inbuilt ringtone volume is a little low but can be improved using custom downloaded high volume ringtones.
7. Overall a gr8 phone at its price.

why did jetstar not allow my phone on there jet.. i thought the two had been sistered together according to the 07 version of planes and mobiles which i read in singapore

I have an O2 Jet and am willing to send via e-mail or online hosting (or a cd, if you're in the United States) the synchronization software from O2. Please simply e-mail me with your preference at my e-mail address, which is hosted by Google's mail service under the name "mypublicjunkmail"(without quotes...). Because of the many bots, I'm not putting up the address verbatim, but with a little ingenuity, you can figure out the actual address (hint: its gmail.com).

I bought the O2 Jet because I wanted a phone - and only a phone. Of the things that are important to me about having a cellular phone, there are three that stand out: battery life, world-wide use (quad-band) & bluetooth capabilities.
The O2 Jet delivers all three of these, with its greatest strength being exactly where it should be: in the battery life. After using the phone for three (3!) hours, the phone's battery was not yet halfway depleted. My other phones, most notably a Motorola RAZR V3, would be nearly dead, if they could last that long.
The software:
A lot of thought has gone into the simplicity of this phone. The rocker button on the top is enormously useful: there is no need to navigate through menus to change the phone between profiles.
Each profile, incidentally, can be customized to your preferences in the ring tone, the volume and ring mode. Additionally, there is the option to disable the phone's calling capabilities altogether with the 'flight mode'. This way, if you wanted to view your calendar while on a plane, you are free to do that.
There are two quick shortcuts that are also well thought out: turning the bluetooth on (pressing & holding '0') and locking the key pad (pressing menu+*). These are functions that are very necessarily and having them readily available is a major plus.
The phone itself:
The physical side of the phone is not disappointing. I prefer the 'candy bar' style of phones, so this is right up my alley. If you prefer flip phones, well, then you'll be frustrated here. The O2 Jet has no counterpart in that style.
The buttons are BIG, and that is really excellent for anyone with large (or clumsy) fingers. The central button in the number pad (#5) has raised dots so that you can center yourself on the phone for dialing without having to stare at the phone. Useful for driving.
I also appreciate the extra ~55 megabytes of space that can be used as a flash drive. It is truly Plug&Play (with Windows XP, at least). Its not a lot of space, but its enough to drop Portable Thunderbird, for example, provided that your profile isn't too big. Assuming I have a cable handy, I can make calls with this phone AND use it to check & download e-mail or carry documents. Nifty.
The downside, of course, are the extras that one may like to have in a phone. No one buys this phone expecting a camera, but I have been disappointed by limitations of the text messaging abilities, the fact that you can NOT fully set up the internet access and the inability to install any java programs.
The text messaging software is based on the outdated T9 technology. After having used Motorola's iTap software for a couple of years, I am continually frustrated by the backward-ness of T9. Its old, its not very good at learning new vocabulary and frankly, it should be shelved. Fortunately, I didn't buy this phone primarily for text messaging, but when I do send messages, I keep it quick.
The internet controls are all changeable save the Gateway IP, which is locked into the O2 network. Thats a shame, because having internet access on a phone, while not necessary, is a great boon for those moments when you'd like to check e-mail, view news quickly or something else altogether. Again, not a main feature of the phone, but it would have been nice.
Finally, there is the lack of Java. My first step with Java-capable phones is to install Opera Mini: its faster and better than any browser built into a phone. But aside from not being able to use the internet, I also can't install Opera because Java isn't available on this phone. Again: not an essential part of why I bought this phone, but it sure would have been nice, even in a business phone.
The final evaluation:
While I have a few minor frustrations with the phone, I am very satisfied with it for what it claims to be: a phone that you can use anywhere for a ridiculous amount of time, as compared to its peers currently on the market. Its a shame that its not officially available outside of the O2 network, but for those who manage to get ahold of it despite this (eBay would be your friend here), it is well worth the effort.

this a warning to all those who are planning to buy o2 devices in the future! beware!
I am from India. I was happy using O2 phones such as the XDA II and the Atom so I decided to go in for another. I purchased an O2 XDA Stealth on Feb 12th 2007 and had immediately regretted the decision as I started facing a hell lot of problems in the device. Almost after a month of correspondence with O2 they sent me a replacement handset. I was happy until i opened the new unit. It had the same problems and some new. Again after long talks with O2 (Mr Keanu) they sent me another replacement promising me that this would work but it did not. Naturally I was very angry and frustrated. At this stage I ahd lost all faith in the Stealth and demanded O2 to give me some other handset for all the inconvienience that I have faced . After a series of talks with O2 Singapore(Mr Keanu) I received an Atom Exec. But my problems worsened! After a couple of days the Exec "died" ie it would not charge. when the charger was connected it would show full battery and when disconnected it would switch off and not switch on for days. Highly annoyed and frustrated I began my talks again with O2 and at the same time bought the O2 Zinc. That was another error from my side as the Zinc also had problems. Its indicator LED malfunctioned and the microphone gave out static. Those were horrible times for me having two defective handsets. O2 finally agreed to replace both these handsets and they did. So I have already used 3 Stealths, 2 Atom Execs and 2 Zincs. That adds up to 7 O2 phones in about five and a half months!!!
Well things dont end here. once again I am having problems with the Zinc such as the LED is malfunctioning, the speaker switches on automatically when a call is made, the speaker dies out, screen freezes..etc..
So to all those who are planning on investing their money on an O2 device please do not as the quality of O2 devices is degrading day by day and is no longer dependable as it once upon a time was.
