O2 UK lands the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 in September

01 August, 2010

O2 has just confirmed that starting next month it will be offering its customers the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8. That means the mid-ranger will make it for a market release only in the last month of the promised Q3.

O2 are still hesitant to reveal details about the pricing of the handset but we doubt it will be terribly expensive. After all, if the company offers the XPERIA X10 for free on a 45 GBP/month contract, the XPERIA X8 will probably cost pennies even on the cheapest tariffs.

Let us remind you what the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 is all about in case you have forgotten. The handset features a 3" HVGA (320 x 480) screen, a 600MHz CPU and runs Android 1.6 (though Éclair update is coming before the end of the year). The smartphone also comes with a 3.2MP snapper and great all round connectivity (quad-band GSM/EDGE, 3G with HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS).

You should also check out our preview to see if it’s worth waiting another month for the X8.
