It might be helpful if the people who have problems with the Atom state whether or not they have upgraded the ROM to the latest version (I suspect that they have not). I heard all of this stuff ages ago and nearly didnt buy the atom because of it, but I paid carefull attention to those that did upgrade the ROM and they all seemed positive about the Atom. So I bought it and upgraded straight away. I have upgraded the ROM whenever a new one came out and all is well with mine. It does everything just fine, speedy, camera works (just not useful for action shots). I do agree that the headphones are crap though. Also check out the latest version called the exec if you are buying from new, it is meant to be a slight improvement based on more RAM and faster CPU.

i've been using atom for the past 2 weeks and so far i love it.my dealer had already installed most of the applications. but i kinda need t9 phonepad. so can somebody pls send the installer to my email address ijan_chem@yahoo.com. thanx in advance.

i'm still considering to buy this atom still.. well cause i do hav a very bad experience on o2 machines, frm the 1st xda 2 , xda 2 s , now xda 2 mini is the only lucky wan that do not hav any probs like , hang , speaker problem and etc, which i would like ask every1's advice bout this.. i'm not willing to spend on this gadget if there is any prob , thx =)

Agree Tim...
The O2 Atom before Rom Upgrade = Awful
After Rom UPgrade = Very Very good machine.
I did have to buy PhoneAlarm Lite to sort out loud ring tone/msg alerts, and I have some trouble hearing calls from speaker but that might be me being a bit deaf. The t9Phonepad hack is a great addition too.
The earpiece is a joke its not usable so budget to buy yourself a bluetooth headset and a few bucks for some extra utility s/w.

Wow so much negativ comments about the Atom. Almost like some competitor is posting to discredit the product!
FYI I bought my first Atom Pure and LOVED it. It had the latest firmware already installed so it was user friendly out of the box. Then i added a bunch of stuff and it was a great tool and entertainment product.
Then I lost it!
And yesterday I bought ANOTHER one. It was actually a Chinese version but the guy changed it to English. I had to upgrade the ROM though, and now everything is fine. I just need to add all the games and stuff again.
The phone takes some work if you are not used to Mindows Mobile or computers in genral - as do all PocketPC machines. This is my first and I give it a 9 out of 10.

Do not buy this phone. the first one packed up on arrival. Dropped calls, camera did not work etc. Received a new one after one week. Same problems . No download connect, calls dropped againLCD screen crumbled, camera would not work, battery went out fast. They are currently repairing the second one, its been two months.

hi sia, there is a software available called sprite backup. it is amazing. u back up ur phone onto the sd or mini sd card. it takes about 7-10 mind for a full backup. it backs up the whole damn phone including ur msg, wallpaper ect. when u restore, it is exactly how u backed up. also has automatic backup options of time or battery life. i am using it for 2 years and it is great

you all should upgrade the new rom befor complain about the atom. i have the phone for 6 months and never have any problem. Yes, at the start. it were running slow and crab. it fine now after the may rom. For media player. i find the later Beta player (0.71) run very good. Search in google. it's free to download.

I bought this o2 phone last month
1.camera is not so fast,the flash light glows and doesnot stop, then I have to remove the battery then switch it on.
2.I copied few video songs & clips few songs
hangup & few donot open atall.
3.When I set radio there is lot of disturbances while hearing.
4.I am having an adress software which is 26Mb but when I went to install from my laptop it asked for destination but I didnot
find mobile device,then I copied the whole software file & pasted in 02 atom cell it didnot work.

You are right ..... the phone when back almost immediately few days after payment and took me almost one month to get it fixed...ultmately new replacement.... now.... after few ROM upgrade (latest).....is like gambling to open a video files that is more than 10M.... sometimes it open but sometimes just failed....

pls dont buy this phone.
i got this phone and used it for only 3 days and i gave it back. it is very slow, the speaker is crap. it hangs a lot. and the battery drains out very fast.
pls dont buy this phone , save some money. and u cant even show off properly with this phone.

Hi everyone
I just bought the atom, I need to know if,I can use the same ARM cabs ,for my Imate pocketpc, on the atom xda? If not what version of the cabs is used for this device?
and how do I backup this phone? there are no options on the phone itself like Imate and none on the activesync so how do I back my phone up? or this phone doesn't need backup even if the battery runs out?

This phone is an ABSOLUTE LEMON!
Speakerphone is woeful
Program response lags like a fat slug
Dodgy rom patch upgrades required
Crap after sales service
My phone had an ELF malfunction within 30days of purchase and I have had no end of dramas trying to get O2 to accept liability and replace the phone!
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!

hi friends i recently transferred series60 games via bluetooth through a sony erricson k750i phone but these games do not work and are stord in JAVA so can anybody let me no how can i play these games

To install softwares in your Atom. You will need to have your Atom connected via USB on your PC. You can find lots of games and software on the internet. You have to pay for most of the games & softwares. However, I have posted close 20 serial numbers related to the different softwares available. You may find them in this forum if you look at the past month or two's postings. As for pictures. You may open Activesync > explore > my device, then drag and drop and photos you want and Activesync will do the rest.
