hi Jay, the O2 XDA FLAME does not have a slide-out keypad. texting and inputs are done using the virtual keyboard.
BUT.. you can use a bluetooth keyboard though :)

hey tarun, i dunno about your experience with the devices you just mentioned but those are manufactured by ODMs and NOT O2...
there are also several areas worth considering, like software, hardware etc..
so dont blame O2 if you have some bad experiences with it..
striding aside.. have you tried using O2 Flame? if you haven't i encouraged you try it first and comment on it (the device) and not O2 (the company)

hey trimavis....my experience whcih i hve ritten about is about the stealth , atom exec nd the zinc....i mite b wrong on the manufacturer front from n angle but wat im trying to say is tat O2 is on a sinking platform nd it had made a mistake by killing its relations wid HTC....i hve had a horrid experience with it whcih still continues nd i strongly advice everyone to dump O2 nd choose sumtin like HTC or IMATE....or nything else....
thank u fr the info by the way...
appreciate it..

and yes USB ON THE GO is the best feature, you hook anything that takes usb cable with flame it not just detect that device as hard drive, you can transfer data print stuff etc from that device via flame, i usually take pictures and hook my camera with flame and suck all pictures out of camera into flame and watch them on 3.6 true vga sharp screen, no comparison between sony and flame, flame is small pc bundled with phone and many other features you carrying in your pocket, wat sony p1 offers? some very usual, is that right? again don't listen to that he talking crap :)

"This is the likely winner of the ugliest pda award for 2007. I think O2's decision to switch away from HTC and use Arima / Quanta or whomever else needs to be reconsidered. Agreeably, HTC does not always make pretty pdas but c'mon, this certainly looks like crappy."
I dunno the problem of the person who posted this comment here... but he certainly doesnt know anything about specs..
hey man, youre looking at the outside... what matter most are the features... you don't go for looks when you buy gadgets.. you look for its output..
i dunno about you man, but you should be an artist.. painting on a canvas.

hey desiree, about your question which of the 2 (flame or p1) is better.
first things first
SE P1 runs on Symbian
O2 Flame runs on Windows Mobile 5.0
Flame has SRS (surroundsound)technology but can be appreciated best with its headset plugged-in.
i do assume that you intend to listen to mp3 music using the headphones right? so its a matter of combining the device you chose with the proper headset.
with flame, it comes with 2.5mm headset port, so you'll need an adapter for 3.5mm so that you can use your favorite headphones. Now add that with the SRS WOW, you'll get a surround sound experience.
but if you prefer, a camera over everything else, i suggest you go for p1, but if you intend to be productive, ill go straight with FLAME. oh before i forget, with flame you can also play those WMA sound formats that is not playable in P1, also you can watch music videos or movies with FLAME and output it using TV Out, (no tvout for P1) and lastly you can plugin your 1gb, 2gb or even 4gb flashdrive into the flame and it will be detected as a drive.. this is the coolest thing.. you can have as much mp3 files or movies :)
choose wisely
