There is a today screen plugin for O2 Xda Neo which allows you to see the operator name on the today screen.

I have just found out that setting the volume to the highest level by just moving the slider on the left side of the phone does the same thing. I thought sound effects volume would be different from playback volume (which actually should be)..

A not-sure-it-really-works tip to the ones complaining about the low volume in windows media playback or hands-free: The volume may not be at the highest level, even though it says so when playing something with windows media player. Go to the File explorer (Datei explorer) > My Music (Einige Musik). There must be a sample file called "dogbark". Play it. You will see that this light-weight player has a volume slider at the right bottom. Set it to the highest. I think this slider is similar to the one in the taskbar in Windows XP and it is the main volume control. After setting it high, you will see that windows media player plays much louder..
Guys, please share this kind of tips, 'cos there are so many annoyances like that in this OS.

Hi,
I think this thread is overloaded with that english manual entries, so please don't ask for the language stuff anymore, as the urls for the manuals has previously been provided.
When it comes to changing the language of the OS itself, it does not seem possible with a minor update. Just like you cannot change the language of your XP on your PC with a minor update. However, this device claims to be a gsm phone at the first place (because it is sold by a gsm operator). There is no other mobile phone that you cannot change menu language. Some forums say that it can only be done by a ROM update, which means reinstalling the whole OS. This is not a job for dummies, of course. In addition, it would void the warranty (AFAIK), because you install an OS without a valid license (you only have the license of the one you have in hand). I think it is a disastrous mistake of all parties (HTC, O2, MS) not to provide this crucial language flexibility in this device. I bought it in Germany. Even in this case, I think I have the right of giving it back right away because of its lack of language support. So if you bought it in another country and it still is in German, I think you should immediately go and ask for a free update or payback, no excuses.
I have a tiny question about an annoyance (there are plenty in this OS), about which I am actually hopeless. Does anyone know how to show operator name on today screen? I mean, I want to see "O2-DE" or "VODAFONE" or whatever, right on my screen. It is conventionally displayed in all other mobile phones, you know. You may wonder why I need it:
1. Normally, when you are inside your homezone, it says "home" under the operator name with a home sign. But because the operator name is not shown in Today (Heute) screen, I have to take the stylus off tap on the radio signal logo to learn whether I am in the homezone or not. I must be able to see it simply by looking at the screen!
2. It may be important which operator you use at that very moment while roaming abroad.

The speaker is the weak point of this phone. Its sound is only fair and you will need to replace it someday because is going to stop work soon or later...

I am using this phone for two months. The camara,though, claims to be 2 mega, it is not good. Video recording is having limited options. Battery goes down well at a time. Except camara and video all other features are good.
There is no hanging. No battery drainage as claimed by somebody. You have to download ActivSync from internet - the CD with phone is useless. I find some telephone numbers are missing while transferring phone book from my PC to phone.
My marks for this phone is that out of 10 it carries 8.5 !!!

Does anyone having problems with this phone being freeze when someone call with cingular service? also is there any new firmware or software out for update for these problems? if yes where can i download them. Thanks all.

To Sudeep,
1. Establish a relationship with another bluetooth phone first.
2. Try to beam the file - it shows the infrared option first and searches for more.
3. Give it a few seconds and it will find and list the (relationship set) bluetooth device next with a 'tap to send' option.
4. Tap to Send :)

Gprs is working fine on my hand set but when i am trying to connect my laptop thru usb cable in modem link it shows Gprs acess point as cab any body help me out a to unable to connect my laptop thru handset using usb cabel

Good pda with stupid manual and installation cd, with no backup for buyers, two thumbs down.... I searched everywhere in net but manual and some features does not match, so help i'm getting mad.

Is something wrong with Neo?? why the manuals are in language we dont use, that too everywhere.
