Can anyone advise on how to get Tom Tom Navigator 6 operating on the Orbit. I've loaded it, but at configuring stage, I'm not sure which type of GPS device to select, and keep getting "no GPS device" message. Thanks, Odie.

The XDA Orbit really could have been the be all and end all of phones. All the normal features you'd expect from a phone (phone, camera, mp3 player) and the added advantage of a built in GPS? Where do I sign up! And to be fair once you get used to Windows Mobile's quirks (of which there are many), it's a decent enough (but not great) phone. However, the thing that really kills it is the tiny amount of internal memory and general sluggishness. Sometimes the phone takes so long to come out of sleep that you actually miss calls! This is despite me having set my ring time to longer than the network default and having installed a third-party overclocking program on the phone! I'm now back to using my tired old Sony Ericsson phone for day to day tasks and only using the Orbit when I need the GPS. I'd suggest you avoid until they beef up the hardware or release the Windows Mobile 6 version of this.

I have had nothing but trouble since I got this phone. The sat nav card didnt work so I sent my phone back 3-5 days, recieved a new 1,3-5 days, courier took sat nav out of the box(the broke bit) card never worked, got new card, 3-5 days, got it working, got charged £80+ for gprs charges. Rip Off. Good Lookig Rubbish. Customer services NOT helpful except 1 rep. Called Cus.Ser, For 15 mins at a time, 25 mins one day. Ive had it 2 months it cost £120 RIP Off 3-5 days does not include weekends. 1st bill £40, 2nd bill £80+ cancelled contract. Make it work first time. Train customer services to be helpful, not just a voice for my account total.

This phone is not for those who need a phone that can do 'phone' functions -eg answer calls, messaging. Its great if you want a high tech gadget. I'm stuck with a phone that won't answer calls (I've been told this is because its running so many other processes that its too slow to register you pressing the 'answer' key), and I can't get my phone to receive picture messages AND be able to send text messages. I don't really need the other functions as much as these - just waiting for an unlock code to go back to my beloved motorola v3i. Also texting with a stylus isn't as fast as using a numerical keypad for someone who is used to predictive text

this a warning to all those who are planning to buy o2 devices in the future! beware!
I am from India. I was happy using O2 phones such as the XDA II and the Atom so I decided to go in for another. I purchased an O2 XDA Stealth on Feb 12th 2007 and had immediately regretted the decision as I started facing a hell lot of problems in the device. Almost after a month of correspondence with O2 they sent me a replacement handset. I was happy until i opened the new unit. It had the same problems and some new. Again after long talks with O2 (Mr Keanu) they sent me another replacement promising me that this would work but it did not. Naturally I was very angry and frustrated. At this stage I ahd lost all faith in the Stealth and demanded O2 to give me some other handset for all the inconvienience that I have faced . After a series of talks with O2 Singapore(Mr Keanu) I received an Atom Exec. But my problems worsened! After a couple of days the Exec "died" ie it would not charge. when the charger was connected it would show full battery and when disconnected it would switch off and not switch on for days. Highly annoyed and frustrated I began my talks again with O2 and at the same time bought the O2 Zinc. That was another error from my side as the Zinc also had problems. Its indicator LED malfunctioned and the microphone gave out static. Those were horrible times for me having two defective handsets. O2 finally agreed to replace both these handsets and they did. So I have already used 3 Stealths, 2 Atom Execs and 2 Zincs. That adds up to 7 O2 phones in about five and a half months!!!
Well things dont end here. once again I am having problems with the Zinc such as the LED is malfunctioning, the speaker switches on automatically when a call is made, the speaker dies out, screen freezes..etc..
So to all those who are planning on investing their money on an O2 device please do not as the quality of O2 devices is degrading day by day and is no longer dependable as it once upon a time was.
if any of you want to know bout the problems i faced in these many devices please contact me on

I've had my XDA Orbit for 6 months now and it really is an outstanding device. In all that time I think it has locked up only twice - infinitely better than the XDA Mini S I had before where lockups happened at least once a day!
Regarding the built-in keyboard question, I had one of course on the XDA Mini S and thought it would be indispensable. In fact it was completely useless. Hopeless on a desk, on a train or plane or in my hand. You think it will be a good idea but in fact it's about as useless as a chocolate teapot. My advice - avoid slide-out qwerty keyboards like the plague. They are completely un-ergonomic.
The stylus and soft keyboard are perfect and very quick to get accustomed to and to use. I've tried the mouse mode - which is novel - but in practice when using the soft keyboard and the mouse to point to each key, it's about a half to a third the speed of using the stylus at best. The trackball comes into its own though when you want to select menu items or icons as you can use it to very quickly move the focus from one to the next and then press the (neat illuminated) trackball button itself to make the selection. Note this does not need mouse mode (and the mouse pointer) enabled. The outer wheel around the trackball can be similary used to quickly move the focus point.
As regards the position of the microSD card, it's perfect. Out of harm's way and no less useful for it. With USB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity to choose from, copying and moving files to and from the storage card to/from my PC is a breeze and the last thing I'd want is to actually have to be physically juggling the memory card just to transfer files. How archaic!
The O2 XDA Orbit is truly outstanding. Just don't forget to get Microsoft Voice Command and a decent noise cancelling Bluetooth headset for an all-round stunning solution. Buy one!

Hi I have had my XDA about 2 months now I have all the latest software. Co-pilot is really brilliant on it. I have however in the last week started getting a "white screen of death" at various points when the using the phone. It also seems to have got itself confused about how many storage cards it has on board ie 2??? Has anyone else experienced anything like this??
Thanks

Hey i have the XDA orbit its brilliant. mobile 6 upgrade is due to be released by o2 in the next 2 weeks.
You can get the battery life on the main display. click on start, settings, today, then tab to items, and put a tick through the box that says meters, then click options, and u can have a percentage bar stating battery left, main memory and storage card. i also have a sperate program from the internet on my display screen which tells me the signal percentage, how many texts i've sent, and how many calls ive made and total time.
u can get some many great add ons. tom tom 6 is the best though!
