Firstly, let's get the technical spec correct.
This phone is a tri-band 900/1800/1900, so it works in the USA.

It's out today and is available on contract and pay as you go (£180-£200 in O2 shops).

The screen is vibrant, the spec is good, but the biggest plus point is its speed. Because this device has an Intel processor, it's very very fast. There's no waiting for menus, no delay between photo or video selection.

I'm getting one for sure and I expect to get a lot of interest from friends and family around present giving times.

Both right and wrong. It 100% developed in Denmark by FL Telecom. Which is the reinkarnation of Maxon(they went down last year)

The phone has been integrated by Fl Telecom in Denmark. It's the first handset that Intel ever managed to get accepted by a network and manufactured in volumes. The sw stack comes from a UK company called TTPCom.

The phone was finally approved by O2, It will be out next week.
I'm testing this phone these days and the MP3 is very cool, but the phone still has some problems(in the MMI and it shuts itself some times).
The camera is nice but don't expect for something amazing.

This device might not have the coolest design (the external antenna bugs the hell out of me), but I'm impressed by several other things.

I really really like the menus. They are very simple and the language is easy to understand. This is much better that in most other devices I've seen. I particularly like the messaging interface. Obviously engineers haven't been involved here ;)

The MP3 player works really well. The sound is good. It also supports AAC and AAC+ files (haven't tried it, though). For me (as a music freak), this is the main feature. The device comes with a converter that enables you to use any set of headphones = great sound!!!

MP3 files can be used as ringtones, so pick any song in your music collection!

The USB cable is great too. Data transfer is fast and simple.

                              A few points of criticism:
                              I want an internal antenna!
The design shouldn't be this generic silver

Hint: When you get your hands on an XM, goto wap.GetJar.com, the phone scoops up and runs all (or most at least) generic Java games and applications my old phone used to choke on

Ladies and Gents read the name i have the inside info. The phone should be launch on 04/07/05 (although it has been delayed twice). It takes SD / MMC and has 13.8 internal memory and a 1.3mp camera with night mode and zoom

I work for o2, and I've just been told it comes with a 256mb card free (or atleast added to the already £200 cost).

SH I and Joe and others... Should we restrain from personal comments for a second and concentrate on the phone...

As there seems to be some confusion, I would like to set a few things straight about the XM:

                                        - Fact: It is a tri-band, so you can travel in the US with it
                                        - Fact: It has USB and synchronizes with WMP
                                        - Fact: It takes SD memory cards (up to 2 GB)
                                        - Fact: It is NOT a Maxon phone like the X1 (read my last entry)

Now, I'm not an O2 shareholder, so I do not take a personal interest in this, but I have tried the phone and believe me - it works!
