OnePlus 7T Pro hands-on review

Design updates

The design of the phone also sees some very slight changes. The OnePlus 7T Pro comes in a new color called Haze Blue, which is much lighter than Nebula Blue for the OnePlus 7 Pro but not as light as Glacier Blue on the OnePlus 7T. More importantly, it's also the only color the OnePlus 7T Pro will be available in, unlike before where you had three color options.

The next change is perhaps the smallest but it's worth mentioning anyway. On the back of the phone, the cutout for the laser autofocus has been moved from within the camera module to being on the left of it. While this may seem insignificant at first, it does mean that you cannot use cases designed for the OnePlus 7 Pro with the OnePlus 7T Pro. The cases otherwise fit perfectly since the bodies are otherwise identical to the last millimeter but this small change makes all the previous cases unusable.

Faster charging

The other major difference with the OnePlus 7T Pro is in the battery. It's now 4085mAh, a minor 2.1% increase over the OnePlus 7 Pro.

More importantly, it now features the Warp Charge 30T technology, which OnePlus claims makes it 23% faster. It's still the same 30W output but as we saw on the OnePlus 7t, it delivers its maximum power for longer which results in faster overall charging for the phone.

The higher capacity and faster-charging speeds should account for the increase in power consumption by the faster chipset.

A new macro mode

The camera now includes the new macro mode, which we first saw on the 7T. This allows you to capture images from a much shorter distance to the subject and get more detailed images.

Just as on the 7T, the new model makes use of new hardware design, which is why the feature will not be available on the 7 Pro. Our guess is OnePlus has gone for a new type of ultra wide-angle camera.

The rest of the camera set up on the OnePlus 7T Pro is identical to the 7 Pro. Here are the first samples we managed to shoot.

When will the full review of the Oneplus 7T Pro be published?

My Nokia n82 had a great macro mode.

They could, but having this update gives them a more competitive edge against other manufacturers which have 855+ phone. Assuming 7T Pro is priced the same as 7 when it just came out.
