One UI 7.0 test build spotted running on a Galaxy S24 Ultra

One UI 6.1’s big thing was Galaxy AI – it permeates every part of the system, from something as simple as writing text, to more advanced image editing features (check out our review for more details). Rumor has it that this will be extended with “video AI” for One UI 6.1.1. But what will the next major version bring?

We don’t know yet, but we do know that Samsung is already testing One UI 7.0. An internal test build was spotted by Tarun Vats. The build versions were S928BXXU2BXE2/S928BOXM2BXE2/S928BXXU2BXD4.

S928 is the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, the “B” indicates that this is a European version of the phone. All Ultra models use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, even the European ones. Not that it matters, the three S24 models are on the same software update schedule.

And older Galaxys should get One UI 7.0/Android 15 too. The Samsung Galaxy S21 series was originally slated to receive 3 OS updates, ending its support cycle on Android 14. However, Samsung extended that to 4 OS updates, so this should be the oldest Galaxy generation that receives One UI 7.0. The Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3 are in the same boat (but they are a few months younger).

The new major version will most likely debut with the Galaxy S25 series early next year before it spreads to older models. In the mean time, leaks should offer a clue on what version 7.0 will be about.
