OnePlus 10T cracks in bend test

Vlad, 17 August 2022

The OnePlus 10T is not officially the OnePlus 10 Pro's successor, but it is a newer phone. So perhaps it's been redesigned in order to withstand bend testing, unlike the 10 Pro which basically snapped in two when bent with some force a few months back?

That's what YouTuber Zack from the JerryRigEverything channel set to find out in his now-'traditional' scratch, burn, and bend "durability test". See for yourself how OnePlus' newest creation fared by watching the video below.

The OnePlus 10T starts out strong since, like practically all other smartphones, it has glass on the screen - which scratches at level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale, showing deeper grooves at level 7. So far so good. The screen lasts for about 20 seconds under a lighter before the pixels turn white and then never totally recover. That's pretty much par for the course for an AMOLED.

Now on to the main event. Bending from the front results in no issues, but bending from the back cracks the phone again, and exactly in the same spot as for the 10 Pro - right under the camera island. Clearly these two phones have internal, structural similarities too, beyond their similar looks. And unfortunately it seems like OnePlus didn't have time to fix the design. Maybe next year.

Seriously, who would want to bend their phone in half on purpose? Unless you were raging, these bend tests are pointless.

Bend test is a bit of pressure to see how reliable and sturdy they are, you'd do it to see if it's a durable phone or not. This would be unreliable and easily damaged.

Zack certainly has the magic touch
