OnePlus 12 cameras detailed in new leak, new Sony IMX966 sensor incoming

OnePlus 12 is expected to arrive in December with three cameras, and first rumors suggested a combination of 50 MP main, 50 MP ultra-wide and 64 MP telephoto shooters.

Today, leakster Digital Chat Station revealed that the ultra-wide cam will actually have a 48 MP 1/2” sensor and f/2.2 aperture, while the zoom lens will feature the 64 MP OmniVision OV64B sensor with OIS. The biggest surprise is the new main sensor – the 50 MP Sony IMX966.

According to earlier reports from the same source, the new Sony sensor will be equivalent in performance to the Sony IMX989 which is a 1”-type imager. Its smaller size will be compensated by the double-layer build, which improves the sensitivity.

The new sensor will be coupled with OIS, and will benefit from Snapdragon 8 Gen 3's computational photography prowess. On top of that, the 64 MP telephoto camera, expected to have 3x optical zoom, will have even better low-light performance, once again courtesy of the new Qualcomm chipset.

The OnePlus 12 is reportedly arriving in December, with an expected debut in China and a global release in early 2024.

That's why we have GCam brother. Though OnePlus may shoot themselves in the foot by blocking access to aux camera stream (for 3rd party apps) yet again.
