OnePlus 12 to debut new Sony Lytia dual-layer stacked CMOS sensor
Leaks and teasers for the OnePlus 12 have been popping up left and right and we now have official confirmation for the upcoming phone’s main camera sensor. OnePlus has partnered with Sony to bring a new Lytia dual-layer stacked sensor on the OP 12.
The new stacked CMOS sensor with 2-layer transistor pixel technology features separate layers for the transistor and photodiode layers which allows for physically larger diodes and more light capture. OnePlus already used a Sony Lytia 808 sensor on the OnePlus Open's main cam but it seems the OP 12 will use a different Lytia sensor. Fellow BBK brands Oppo and vivo also announced partnerships with Sony’s Lytia earlier this year meaning the upcoming Find X6 and vivo X100 phones will likely feature the same dual-layer stacked sensors for their main cameras.
OnePlus 12 was previously rumored to debut with a 50MP Sony IMX966 main sensor alongside a 64MP telephoto module (OmniVision OV64B) with 3x optical zoom and a 48MP ultrawide lens. We also got confirmation that the OP 12 will bring a BOE-developed LTPO OLED display.
OnePlus 12 is reportedly arriving in China sometime next month, followed by a global release in early 2024.
