All Cyanogen and Oxygen OS can be easily upgraded, and yes...before it is officially released too.

Anonymous, 31 Aug 2016Will Oneplus 3 get Andriod Nougat Update?Op3 does not run on pure android os but on oxygen os which is based on the marshmallow but I am sure they will make a oxygen os based on nougat aswell.op3 is the second best choice for os updates after the nexus phones in my oppinion.

Btw more ppi and a more vibrabt display usually results into more battery consumption. In this price range you wont find better ( maybe axon 7 but I do not like that phone so much ). This phone is a good buy for the price. It is not overpriced .
