No LineageOS 19.1 because OnePlus (Oppo really) decided to release an incomplete kernel and adopt the same asinine approach to Open Source as the other lower-tiered Chinese brands do. Congrats, OnePlus managed to under perform Xiaomi/Redmi/Poco.

I used to be able to use the USB-C to 3.5mm audio jack dongle I got with my OP6T on my OP8T to use a gaming headset for phone conversations, I am hard of hearing and the headset helps a lot. After the latest software upgrade from T-Mobile, to I guess android 12, the audio out of my USB-C via the dongle no longer works. Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution? It might be a setting somewhere but I have not found it yet.

I'm Switching from Samsung S20FE (Exynos) to OnePlus 8T
                    I'm Really Satisfied
S20FE had Heating Problem and Poor Battery life
It also got choppy while scrolling
While 8T is pretty Good with Smoothness Performance and battery Life.
Cameras on S20 was way better
But I use Gcam to get better Photos

Let me tell you a heart wrenching story about how OnePlus phones betrayed me and how I am desperately searching for a new phone, even thinking of turning to Apple because OnePlus couldn't deliver.

I absolutely loved OnePlus and have been using their phones since the 5T ever came out. I upgraded to 8T 2 years ago and fell in love with it. Never for a single second have I doubted my phone. The battery life was good, the OS and UX intuitive and about everything exactly as I wanted it. The specs of the phone are also amazing and this is what had me invested. I also bought OnePlus buds and was thinking of getting the watch. Go fully with them in every regard because I really liked what they had and what they were doing.

All of this was well, and I mean: the 8T was worth it but sadly not in the long run. Around 3 months ago, I got a prompt for updating to Android 12 and was hyped. I didn't really mind being on Android 11 for longer but I was also looking forward to OxygenOS 12 and Android 12. There was a 3 gigabyte update and I thought they had improved a lot of the operating system's features and stability issues, even though I never experienced any.

Well... As soon as the phone started running OOS 12, the issues began. Firstly, they had re-made the shelf function, which I used a lot. The change from it only being available on the home-screen vs. having it available across all apps was annoying. It took me a whole week or two to just get adjusted to the shelf and that you have to slide down in a very specific spot for it to open, otherwise the notifications will open instead. Next annoying thing about this update was perhaps the god awful design. Just about everything, even the fonts, had changed. The folders now open and are centered so it is more difficult to use the phone with one hand. You can choose several different accents instead of the OP red. There is just so many wrong things with it and things that you have to get adjusted to.

UI changes and feature hiding isn't a deal-breaker since you can get used to almost everything and spend 2x time on finding features or replacements for features that were there. They also disabled the ability to disable Google apps for some reason. So, for a while, no one could disable YouTube or any other Google app that came bundled in with the phone. They completely and utterly destroyed Warp Charge. In the initial update, they re-named it to SuperVOOC charge and removed charging time estimates, e.g. how long until finished charging and so forth. The worst part about this update is perhaps the battery drain issue and lag. I don't know what happened but the device is more prone to lagging now than it was before. Things don't feel as "snappy". Opening an app or closing can take upwards of 2 or 3 seconds. There are a lot of weird behaviors with the OS - for instance, notifications don't show up on the lock screen. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. In general, there seems to be some serious issues with the notifications as you can get two of the same or none at all, and you don't choose.

Well, I was curious to see if I was the only one who was absolutely miserable from the new updates and it turns out that there is a myriad of people, who are, even more angry than I am. OnePlus doesn't respond either. The real culprit behind all this is ColorOS. What is ColorOS? It is Chinese dogshit put on Oppo phones. It is the operating system that Oppo phones use. What exactly does this have to do with OnePlus? Well, the fact that OxygenOS 12, is just a reskin of ColorOS. That's right. They completely ditched their own and original OxygenOS and instead lazily took ColorOS boilerplate and reskinned it after their own designs and principles. SuperVOOC charge is what Oppo calls their fast charging. After reading that, everything just clicked for me. OnePlus is not the same as it once was. They are not interested in delivering interesting, competitive and out-of-the-box thinking products. They once were but that was required for them to grow. What they're interested in now is your money. And if you can pay upwards of $1200 USD for their latest 10T flagship, well then you're the right kind of customer. Innovation is what I seek. It looks like OnePlus did Settle, but I will never.

Using it For a Month Now. I'm really Satisfied with the Performance, battery life and Overall Experience it Deliveres. I'm on OxygenOS 12.1 and Having no Issues.
Only downside I feel about this Phone is it's Cameras. I think you Can Use GCam for Photography and you be Good.

The phone started out really good but my long term review is that I hate it. There always seem to be some new bug that I have to deal with. Speed and stability is what I wanted from OnePlus. The phone is snappy but these bugs are ridiculous. I would not recommend.

Jude, 07 Jun 2022I got the update recently and my phone's UI now looks ... moreMy 8T runs OOS12 fine. No lag, no crashing, but since I used the Oxygen Updater full OTA for the latest C.20 update of OOS12, it broke Google Pay. But otherwise, my 8T is faster and smoother than it ever was with OOS11, battery life seems to be improved and is simply incredible. Especially the idle battery drain from the last few OOS 11 versions is gone, so I simply have to charge my phone less often with similar usage.

Oh, and a few apps that did crash back in Android 11 (if they crashed, it happened immediately when I launched them - killing them and launching them again worked in OOS11) are working fine after the update to OOS12. I don't mind the new UI, I would say I'd prefer to have the old look back, but this clearly isn't a deal-breaker for me. My phone also shows 5G as an option, but I'm still on a 4G plan - can't test if it actually works.

I know there has been various issues, others have had fast charging not working at all, excessive battery draining and phone running hot, apps crashing, 5G broken for some users (phone won't even show the option for 5G), and also other stuff I now can't remember. Surely OOS12 has some maturing to do, but for me and my 8T... C.20 is generally speaking fine. I didn't clear cache or factory reset my phone after updating.
