Reason: camera
Ok, they both have the same main camera sensor but the OnePlus 8 Pro has OIS, will take less blurry or dark photos in low light, probably more stable videos.
It has a 3x optical zoom telephoto, so better zoom, and you can record in 4k with it, even the OnePlus 9 Pro can't.
Ultrawide angle is probably better on the OnePlus 9, but if you take macros, since they both use the ultrawide angle sensor for that, the OnePlus 8 Pro is the better choice, bigger sensors doesn't seem to be able to focus very close to subjects, that is why the macro mode on the 8 Pro is better than the 9 Pro as well.

The cameras on the OnePlus 8 Pro are marginally better, but the 9 is better than the other 8 series. Outside of the camera department, the 9 is very similar to the 8 series, with marginal improvements. The display is awesome, the performance (real world) is exactly the same (888 is overkill). Get a sandstone case for the phone on you won't notice the plastic frame.

Jylac, 11 May 2021Hi. How is the battery life like?5+ hours which include at least 2 hours of Arena of Valor and Asphalt 9 at 60fps. No issues whatsoever. On a day of social media and work usage, I get between 6 and 7.

I would really like a more compact version of this phone from OP. Maybe a 5.8/6 inch maximum screen size. I wouldn't mind living with a nice plastic back since i always wear a case and no wireless charging. Could live without the monochrome lens too (maybe a macro instead). It's very hard to find a decent compact phone these days.

Anyone bought OnePlus9 out of T-mobile version? Asking cause only OP9 T-mobile version has IP68 rating?
Please share your user experience of dust/water resistance in your OP9 if you bought other than T-mobile version whether it works for washing with water dust/water resistant works.

I keep reading in the comments "No OIS" and it's ridiculous at this point. I bought the phone yesterday and the shots are super smooth and crispy. The rear camera videos at both HD and 4K are super smooth regardless of the frame rate. The downside is the selfie camera footage which is really shaky and caps at 30fps, and the rear camera 4k 60 is limited to 5 minutes with super smooth EIS on. Other than that, this is a ridiculously great phone for the money.

Satrebor27, 29 Apr 2021I just can't stand how people only read spec sheet doe... moreExactly, same goes for the plastic frame, the phone has a paint on it, they act like they'll notice it's plastic, then some people puts their phones in a case, so won't notice it at all!
And it seems very solid even when trying to bend it on purpose, it's not cheap plastic, they call it fiber glass reinforced polymer or something, people think it's fragile like a plastic bag.
As for the OIS, since the OP9 has a bigger sensor and binned pixels than the S21, it probably needs less time to expose in low light, so it doesn't matter if it lacks OIS, but for video stabilization tho it's another story, I need more data.
