Seeing a dead pixel inner screen since MKBHD uses is a massive red flag buying this device.

With a decent telephoto (not 3x) it'd have been my first foldable phone.

Crap phone ! The inner screen broke after 1 week ! It's not meant to survive proper usage for heavy users . Would not recommend this phone !
Also the main apps for messages and photos are complete rubbish .

BigDisplay, 07 Jan 2024Anyone... How's the battery life on this beauty?I am a light - medium user. I can get 1.5 to 2 days battery life. I use the scheduled shut down/start up overnight, for about 5 hours as I dont take calls in the middle of the night. Charging with the Oneplus power brick and cable is 30-40 mins from near 0%.

I had been waiting for some time to switch to the folding world, and this device completely convinced me. I've had it for about a month and I couldn't be happier, I enjoy every second. If I had to add something negative, I would say that the case that it comes with it is not as tight as I would like, but I will surely find something better later.

Do not mind me, 31 Dec 2023Hi you mentioned a stylus in your brief review. Could you s... moreThe stylus came with the (cheapo) case that I bought. Its not the real stylus that is apparently as rare as hens teeth and very expensive, but it does for now. Its one of those rubber tipped stylus and ok for basic stuff.
Not sue I am allowed to say, but you can find on ali express by searching for for "OPPO Find N3 Case Premium Stylus"

I bought direct from Oneplus, from their UK online store, but maybe you want to try before you buy and I don't know who has it in-store here.

I bought this phone and its great. I had a Samsung S21 Ultra before (that failed in less than 2 years)
Build quality – Excellent. Built well, feels nice has the additional button for silent mode. Camera bump is a bit big, but camera takes great pictures so if people don’t like it, they can always buy a different phone with a smaller bump. If I had to change anything maybe I would move the buttons down a bit so that when unlocking it’s a little nearer to the bottom, so the right thumb can reach it when holding. IR sensor is a nice touch, although I personally don’t use it but I tested and works flawlessly.
Wireless charging - with wire the phone goes from 10-20% to full in less than 30 minutes, maybe its more but it charges so quick that it’s really not noticeable and I would be surprised if there’s a wireless charger that could charge so quickly. Some people see not having wireless charging as a deal breaker, for me it’s a very, very, small compromise.
Water resistance - I have never used any phone in the rain, dropped in toilet, been in a very damp environment, swam with it etc. For me its really a non-feature so its not one of my requirements.
Desktop Mode - I wouldn't mind Desktop mode, but to be fair I didn’t use it that much even on my Samsung. I am sure OnePlus will do a software upgrade. I believe there’s a Youtuber that shows that it does work with a little workaround, its probably more screen mirroring than Desktop Mode though
Multitasking - is really good the Open Canvas feature allows dragging and dropping pics/text between apps almost like a Windows desktop. Its a bit less fiddly than opening and closing apps to cut and paste. Its not perfect but does more right than wrong. Also swiping left or right at the bottom of the screen makes moving between apps easy. The parting of the Red Sea gesture to open 2 apps is good although sometimes apps are opened unevenly ,e.g. one is narrow other is wide.
Camera – takes really good pics. My use is for simple snaps with friends or when out and about. I saw some people taking high level pictures on Youtube and showing some professional level features, so its more than capable of meeting my needs.
Taskbar - holds the recent apps and full app list. Can be hidden or shown with minimal effort. I'd prefer to be able to add things to the bottom taskbar than the Smart Side bar for quicker access, e.g App Groups
Speed - Very snappy, apps open immediately and as quick as my hands need them.
Screens – both are bright with very clear pics. Almost creaseless. Apps are displayed well most of the time. I had to play around with film formats to get it right, due to the almost square screen when opened, other than that I can’t think of a specific app where it wasn’t shown correctly. The OS allows moving from outside screens to inside screens very easily. Its configurable depending on needs.
Overall – I think it’s a fantastic phone. Build is on a par, if not better than Samsungs and Apples. Its not perfect, but the small issues that I have are minor and I am enjoying using it. I had minor issues with Samsungs, Huawei’s and Asus phones in the past also so don’t believe anyone makes a perfect phone. Theres more to like than not. I’d highly recommend it.
I still need to find a case that works well in the car, as my current case is a bit awkward due to a stylus on the backbone, but I am sure there’ll be something out soon that suits my needs better.
Some of the things mentioned as negatives are in the “very minor, I don’t care” list for me. Hope this helps someone a little, if not, feel free to ask.

No desktop mode

Half baked looking user interface
Poor multitasking experience
Oversize stylus
500 USD is the maximum amount money i would pay for a phone with so many absent features of a flagship phone.

Many absent flagship features on OnePlus Open:
-no desktop mode
-no IPX8 rating
-no wireless charging
-not so popular brand image (chinese brand)
-not designed exclusively (this is rebranded Oppo Find N3)
-mediocre night mode camera
-massive size of stylus accesories
-poor experience in multitasking
-half baked looking User Interface
-only few number of official store worldwide
I am waiting for Oneplus Open 5 in 2027 to see for the improvement, and all flagship features.
