Oppo details Find N5 hinge and thickness

Michail, 13 February 2025

The teaser campaign for the upcoming Oppo Find N5 is in full swing and the latest additions reveal the phone’s updated hinge and its exact thickness. Find N5, which is expected to launch internationally as the OnePlus Open 2 will measure 8.93mm in its closed state.

That would crown it as the slimmest foldable on the market once it goes official exactly one week from now. Oppo did not share the phone’s unfolded width but rumors suggest each side measures 4.2mm.

Oppo also shared an interesting look at the Find N5’s updated hinge, which helps make the phone so slim. The so-called “titanium alloy sky hinge” features titanium, as the name suggests, but the more interesting bit is that Oppo actually employed a 3D-printed titanium wing panel. The process involved several steps, including melting the titanium into liquid form and then converting it to powder, which was loaded onto the 3D printer.

Oppo also implemented a new five-spring torque system and utilized a waterdrop design which rolls part of the display inside to help prevent the display from creasing. Despite its intricate slim design, Oppo Find N5 will feature IPX9 water protection which would be a first for a foldable.
