Oppo F11 Pro review

GSMArena team, 16 March 2019.

Display

The Oppo F11 Pro has a 6.53" display, nearly bezel-less at that. But where it shines is the lack of any cutouts - as far as uninterrupted viewing experience goes - the F11 Pro is among the few devices that stand out in this respect.

In addition to the lack of bezels and notches, the screen also has the usual tall aspect ratio that's become trendy lately - 19.5:9. The resolution is 1080p and the pixel density is about 400ppi.

Oppo F11 Pro review

The Oppo F11 Pro display has a maximum brightness of 440 nits - not the brightest around, but we guess it's okay for the class. The black levels turned out quite deep, though, so the F11 Pro screen scored an excellent contrast ratio of 1400:1.

There is no sunlight boost if you switch to Auto Brightness, though.

The lowest brightness of whites we could achieve on the F11 Pro is 3 nits, which is plenty comfortable for reading in the dark.

The Oppo F11 Pro has a slider in Display settings for temperature - and it goes between Cooler, Default, and Warmer. The color rendering in the Default mode is average at best with an average DeltaE of 6.2 and a maximum deviation of 11.1. The only saturated hues are the blues, which also hurt the white and grays a lot.

Using the Warmer option (far right at the slider) will fix the otherwise noticeable blue tint - the color accuracy improved for an average DeltaE of 4.2 and a maximum deviation of 6.5.

Battery life test

The Oppo F11 Pro is powered by a large 4,000 mAh battery. It offers Oppo's custom solution called VOOC Flash Charging and requires using the bundled 20W charger and a proprietary microUSB cable, which can be limiting.

At least, it offers great speeds. The 20W adapter can bring the Oppo F11 Pro battery from 0% to about 40% in around 30 minutes, which is quite rapid. It takes about 85mins for a full charge.

The Oppo F11 Pro scored an excellent result in our battery test with a 109-hour Endurance rating. It did a great job in all tested scenarios - video playback, calls, web browsing, and even stand-by performance. And it's in line with the other Helio P70-featuring phones we've tested so far such as the Realme 3.

Oppo F11 Pro

Our battery tests were automated thanks to SmartViser, using its viSer App. The endurance rating above denotes how long a single battery charge will last you if you use the Oppo F11 Pro for an hour each of telephony, web browsing, and video playback daily. We've established this usage pattern so that our battery results are comparable across devices in the most common day-to-day tasks. The battery testing procedure is described in detail in case you're interested in the nitty-gritty. You can check out our complete battery test table, where you can see how all of the smartphones we've tested will compare under your own typical use.

Speaker

There is one speaker on the Oppo F11 pro, and it's at the bottom. It posted a Very Good score in our loudness test, but we did notice that when necessary it can go north of 90db without any distortion. The quality is excellent with a rich and deep sound, and it sounds better than many other Very Good, or even Excellent phones we've tested lately.

Audio quality

The Oppo F11 Pro had mostly excellent scores in the first part of our audio quality test. The intermodulation distortion was the only non-perfect reading when hooked to an active external amplifier, but smartphones have come so far these days that even such minor inaccuracies are not the norm here and prevent us from giving full points.

Plugging in headphones degrades the stereo quality quite a lot and adds some shakiness to the frequency response. They also bring down the loudness from very high in the first test down to only average. This all means the Oppo F11 Pro is hardly a performer worth writing home about even if it doesn’t have a single point of major failure - it just comes slightly short in a bunch of different areas.
