Oppo Find X8 Quick Capture button demoed in live video

Oppo is following Apple's footsteps in bringing back the camera key - it will release the Find X8 series with a physical button on the side for taking photos. The Quick Capture solution is a touch capacitive area, and over the weekend, we saw a video explaining how it will work.

The Oppo Find series product manager revealed that the button can be double-tapped to activate the camera app. A single long press will take a photo, but more interestingly, a sideways swipe will zoom the camera.

Here's a video of how it would work:

The main reason for this button is sometimes the screen can't be tapped to take a photo. That's why the demo is about using the phone underwater, as it will be IP68-certified, but the executive pointed out it should be easy to use both in landscape and portrait mode.

We do have to point out that Oppo already has a similar feature in the Find X7 Ultra with ColorOS 14. Double-tap of any volume key fires up the camera, and then the buttons again can be pressed to zoom, although it is not as smooth as a swipe would be.
