The notch is here to stay, until we can have a in-display camera, which won't be any time soon.
You have to accept it, and appreciate it. None of the notched phones are 16:9, they are usually very tall, you viewing a video wouldn't result in a cut-out.

OP5T had some waterproofing measures, Oneplus 6 almost had complete IP68 . I don't think they will abandone that development . and considering limited resources a waterproof PopUp camera will be near impossible from oneplus.
