Philips 855 is the "best" of Philips 2004 models. But it seems to have numerous problems.. Philips make a control before sale products ?! :-)
Well, the phone is always announced (with European language like French) in France for the beginning of September.

this phone looks great and all but i've had to return it for exchange twice in 10 days. major problems with the backlight and the screen would freeze for no apparent reason. when you buy this phone, the battery life would be the LEAST of your concern. reception is also quite bad. overall, the phone doesn't function properly but the price is quite cheap for a camera phone - only $200 USD in hong kong

you can download an english manual from philips : http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/c/ct8558_awusa0p2/ct8558_awusa0p2_dfu_eng.pdf
as far as philips posted it should be possible to change it english. where did you buy it? ebay?

I want buy this Philips 855 which is the "best" Philips for 2004. We know, Philips don't make "high-end" phone.
But I'm waiting for a model WCDMA/UTMS in the next Cebit (march 2005). Big hopes...
Philips 855 will be release in the beginning of September in France (with French language and other European language, then I think the date of release for Germany or England is the same)

I can't believe you guys get so irate about a mobile phone!!! I like the Phillips 855 and I'm going to buy it, I don't really care about all the technical crap, it's not like I'm going to impress my date with the details about my phone!!!

To thos who say batt sucks: If you happen tot know anything about battery techniques, you should know that the maximum capacity is reached after several loads i.e after a couple of days/ weeks. So saying after four days that'it sucks'is is a bit premature. So you sold it too quickly. Read manuals people and ge informed better before you buy. Philips is know for its long battery life life in cell phones. My 530 stands out 4/5 days, using it 15 min call very day and use some other items!!

INFORMATION FOR ALL USER OF PHILIPS 855:the battery is a bit suck of this model.but you can use one menu which call AUTONOMY PROFILES.you can go to setting --> profiles --> autonomy.use it,then you will prove that the battery last for almost 4 days, even if you use it for write message very often.really!but when you use this menu, the inside LCD will just bright a half and the keypad light is nit active.but this menu very usefull to people who use to write message very often.prove it!

Somebody wrote; the battery of this model sucks. I have one, and like all other Philips models has it a good battery life. Standby time is 4/5 days and isn't bad it all for such a phone like this.
