based on my previous experience with xeniums, it doesn't really last the claimed 30 day time frame. it depends on a lot of factors like signal strength, type of sim and how it is used. i too am looking forward to having them here in the philippines. the brand has taken a lot of bad rap (philips itself is not entirely blameless) so it would be interesting to see how the new owners of the philips brand will push their product to the next level.

I'm in Texas, USA with ATT/Cingular.

Bought from yesasia.com for US$220. Good phone overall. Unfortunately, I have the HK version, so switching text input modes often means switching through the Chinese ones as well.

Received the phone on Thursday AM, and was down to one bar (seems to be four) on Sunday PM. To me, this means my typical use is something like 5 days on maybe 2 hours of talk time. Of course, in the first week of a new phone, there is a lot of playing around with the functionality. Seems to have a similar battery life to my old Nokia 3100 with a new battery, but the Nokia only claimed a 6h battery life.

You must make 2-3 recharging cycles for 740 hours stand-by time.

The reason why I bought this phone is because of the promise of the long lasting battery. Unfortunately I'm having issues exactly with the battery, it is only lasting for 3 days. I'm sure I received a defective phone so I have contacted the dealer about this issue. If wasn't because of that, I would say buy this phone. If you are looking for a phone to make videos, do not purchase this one. pictures are okay. Love the feeling of the phone and it would be perfect for what I use a cell phone ... only if my battery lasted the promised 740 hours in standby.

with reference, 9@9u has 512Mb Flash ROM and 256Mb RAM for it's O.S. but only 25MB available for users' data.

mind MB & Mb, also the O.S. memory & storage memory are different

the max video quality is as PAL VCD or CIF

besides, EDGE has been mentioned in the official materials such as this leaflet:

                          http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/c/ct9a9ublk_40/ct9a9ublk_40_pss_aen.pdf

though it doesn't mean that the phone really support it! ^+++^

                              Ok, setting some things straight.

From the official Philips PDF sheet:

                              Video Recording = max 352x288 @ 15 fps ONLY

                              Video Playback = 352x288 @30 fps.

                              Combression formats = MPEG4, H.263

                              User Memory = 25mb

Internal Memory = 512 mb flash.

So, I just got disappointed coz the 30fps are only for PLAYBACK, *not* recording :(
