Phone Link will let you copy text from Android photos

Phone Link is a Microsoft solution that allows you to sync and cast your Android smartphone to a Windows computer. And integration will get even better with a new update that will allow you to grab text from Android photos and use it directly on PC through optical character recognition (OCR).

Phone Link, called Link to Windows on the phone side, lets you connect Android 14 devices (only select brands like Samsung, Honor, OnePlus, Realme, Oppo, and others) and use their apps through your PC.

Now, with OCR, you can copy the text from an image in your gallery and directly paste it on your Windows 11 phone.

The text extraction feature on Windows 11 is not new – it was already part of the pre-installed Snipping Tool. The new solution simply skips a step and allows you directly to use the text from a book page, street sign or whatever else is photographed.

The feature is currently available in Insider Preview Build 22635.3646 (Beta Channel) and should reach everyone later this year.

Too bad that Phone Link is garbage, it still saves photos in random resolution, causes random battery drains on both Android (25%) and PC (starts spinning my laptop fans around 2AM, WTF is it doing there?). Gave it a second chance recently, once agai...

I think it won't work with the languages which have unicode characters. Just like I cannot use these characters as my nickname in this page. çüşığö

MS is wasting their time coding for niche products that 95% of their userbase won't use. > Copy Text | > From Image | | > From Phone | | | > Which must be connected to Windows
