Poco F5 Pro in for review

Ivan, 09 May 2023

The Poco F5 Pro just went global and is already at the office and in for review.

It's a well-rounded phone and, fun fact, is the first Poco with wireless charging. And it's not your garden variety 5W speed either - the F5 Pro does 30W wireless and 67W wired charging. Even better, the 67W brick comes in the box along with a case and a USB cable. The battery is also an ample 5,160mAh unit.

The Poco F5 Pro has a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset with 8GB or 12GB of RAM, built-in liquid cooling, and either 256GB or 512GB of storage.

The display is as premium as it gets - a 6.67-inch AMOLED of 3200x1440px resolution, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and up to 480hz of touch sampling. The panel will go up to 1,500 nits as well.

There are three cameras on the back of the Poco F5 Pro, two of which contribute significantly to the photography experience - a 64MP main shooter, and an 8MP ultrawide (the other's a 2MP macro). There's a 16MP selfie on the front.

Here's a visual comparison between the Poco F5 Pro and the Poco F5 on the right. The Poco F5 isn't far behind its counterpart in terms of specs with a similar 6.67-inch display of 120Hz refresh rate, only its of lower 1080p resolution. The vanilla has the same cameras, and a slightly smaller 5,000mAh battery with the same wired charging speed but no wireless option.

The Poco F5 also has a less powerful Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, but one that's just as efficient.

Is the rest of the phone undamaged, just the battery can't charge anymore? In that case: Yes, if the power IC is on a separate board (i.e. Xiaomi A1, the board can be replaced very easily) if the IC is on the same board as the other components, ...

Another worthless Chinese phone without an SD card slot.
