Poco X7 Pro review
Android 15-based HyperOS 2
The Poco X7 Pro runs on HyperOS 2 and Android 15, unlike the X7, which comes with the Android 14-based Hyper OS 1. Regarding software support, Xiaomi promises at least three major OS updates for the X7 and X7 Pro and 4 years of security updates.
If you come from an older MIUI-powered Xiaomi, you will feel right at home with HyperOS. The software isn't very different from the last few iterations of MIUI, but it does appear to be more polished, it features some neat AI tricks, and Xiaomi claims some under-the-hood optimizations as well.
The HyperOS 2 on the Poco X7 Pro does not come with an app drawer, which has to be a first for a Poco phone. You can enable an app drawer from the Home screen settings, of course.
Excluding the Iron Man theme, HyperOS 2 is quite familiar - it has different Notifications and Control pages, the homescreens support apps and widgets, the -1 homescreen can be either Google Discover or App Vault by Xiaomi.
The multi-tasking options include split screen apps and pop-up windows.
The AI functionality is quite rich on the Poco X7 Pro.
It all starts with Google Gemini. You can ask Gemini a lot of stuff to do, even make entire conversations. It can give you ideas on what to cook based on a photo of your fridge contents, or you can ask for book or painting ideas.
Gemini can also create images for you, which is neat. Circle to Search is also coming soon with an update, though Google Lens is available right now.
HyperOS 2 also supports AI functions in Notes - summary, proofreading, translation and layout.
There is some AI magic in the Gallery app too. In addition to Image Expansion and Erase Pro (for objects, lines and people), you also get AI Sky, which works flawlessly and changes the sky to whatever you'd like to see.
Finally, AI Interpreter for real time translations and AI subtitles are also available in supported apps.
Performance and benchmarks
The Poco X7 Pro employs the Dimensity 8400 Ultra (4nm) chipset by MediaTek. It is quite an interesting chipset because of its processor.
The CPU has eight Cortex-A725 CPU cores, clocked at up to 3.25 GHz. Only one of these cores is allowed to go up to 3.25GHz and serves as a Prime core, then the remaining three serve as high-performance cores clocked at 3.0GHz, and four energy-efficient ones run at up to 2.1GHz.
The GPU is Mali-G720 MC7.
Poco X7 Pro is available globally in three UFS 4.0 + LPDDR5X configurations - 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB.
The chipset supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and has a new 5G-A modem comes with up to 5.17Gbps download performance.
The MediaTek NPU 880 that's in the Dimensity 8400 is 20% faster in integer/floating-point operations (33% in large language model text generation), improves efficiency by 18%, and is 21% better in Stable Diffusion 1.5 too. That is compared to the previous generation Dimensity 8300 Ultra.
And now, it is time for benchmarks!
We have included the more expensive Xiaomi 14T phones here for comparison, so we can show the real power of the Dimensity 8400 CPU and GPU. It is close to the flagship Dimensity 9300+ inside the Xiaomi 14T Pro, and light years ahead of the competition in the Poco X7 Pro's price bracket.
The big CPU cores give the X7 Pro a serious edge, but its GPU is miles ahead of every other phone in the X7 Pro class. The same can be said for its AI capabilities.
The chip is backed by LiquidCool Technology 4.0 with a 5000mm² cooling area, which should be a notable improvement over version 2.0 inside the Poco X6 Pro. And considering the chipset flagship-grade performance, we do hope for the best here.
We were impressed by the sustained performance of the X7 Pro! The CPU and GPU retain 73% of the maximum CPU and 77% of the maximum GPU performance in the long stress tests. The phone does become warm, but never hot.
The Poco X7 Pro, to put it simply, is a performance beast. It offers flagship performance in a price bracket you wouldn't expect to see it in and retains it well under load. If we must give a grade, it will be an easy A+.

I don't care if the phone has it's charger included or not - I won't use it anyway. Spec-wise 399€ for 12/512 is really good, but this phone doesn't have major component, which is a dealbreaker for me - no 2MP macro... Maybe F7 Pr...
