Pokemon Go is now live on the Apple Watch
Back in September at Apple's big iPhone event, Niantic showed a demo of Pokemon Go running on the Apple Watch. This was promised to arrive soon after that.
Well, it's definitely taken its sweet time, but Pokemon Go is now finally available for the Apple Watch. It will give you notifications for nearby Pokemon, PokeStops, eggs, and medals. You can collect goodies from PokeStops straight from your Apple Watch, but it's impossible to actually catch Pokemon on your wrist. For that, you still need your iPhone (though the fact that your watch notifies you when a Pokemon is in your vicinity is certainly neat).
You can log each gameplay session as a workout that counts toward your Apple Watch activity rings, and Pokemon Go will show you the distance you've traveled toward hatching an egg or receiving Candy for Buddy Pokemon.
There's no telling if Pokemon Go will ever make it to Android Wear devices too.

Or maybe they are a fan of the games on Nintendo platforms but played this and realized it's pretty crap in comparison?

Most people who stopped playing weren't actual fans of the franchise IMO. They just downloaded the app to see what the hype was about. I've been playing it since day one and still do. can't wait for more Gen2 pokemon.
