Use predecessor Qtek 9100 now with mixed feelings. Faster CPU of 9600 and bettered software will resolve slowness(irritating in calendar-surfing).Agree that integrated GPS would make the ideal all-in-one tool, but the apparently still disappointing 2MP Camera (without autofocus and good flash)provide a bigger blame.Even my old Nokia 6600 is a lot better and easier.
Tip: avoid the use of stylus, with fantastic QWERTY-boars you can do it all a lot quicker.
Question:does anyone really use the handwriting-option?

It is already for more than 2 weeks available from the REAL MANUFACTURER HTC and it is the TyTN as well pointed out from a few guys. Check it out on the website http://www.soundtech.com.cy and you will see price as well with FULL spec. It is the perfect size and instead of buying the P990 you can buy this instead as it is a Window based mobile as well.

Since the REAL manufacturer is HTC why bother to buy it as an I-Mate. HTC is the main player from now on and who knows....may be they will stop producing it for I-mate!!

This phone does have an IRDA Port and also a standard mini USB cable does fit and work to full spec of the 9600

The phone will be around the £550 mark, or for a Thia Import it will be about £450, but the keys will be mixed up and have extra Thia symbols. It is still fully fuctional though

I bought the new HTC Tytn a week ago and I'm loving so far. Excellent PDA Phone, solid, good looking case, not too big and offers everything one needs except maybe GPS.

The Micro SD slot is also a slight disadvantage because Micro SDs are hard to get and currently they only offer up to 1 gb of memory.

All in all, the Tytn is really worth it's money.

This will use normal SD memory-it comes with a 64 mb sd card

This phone is actually called the HTC TyTN.
Up until now all Qtek and Imate phones were being made by HTC and 're-badged' by Imate and Qtek.
So for every Imate, theres a Qtek and an HTC model as well.
From September this year, Qtek will no longer be releasing phones made by HTC.

I think the type of memory used in the Qtek 9600 isn't miniSD, but it's microSD.
The price will go up to 1000 euro...

HSCSD - High Speed Circuit Switched Data.... With 3G data speeds...CSD is not needed.

I saw some pics and i understand what you wrote, the keyboard and external desing is a bit different but the features are the same.
