Back in December we saw the arrival of the Snapdragon 765/765G chipset with integrated 5G modem and today Qualcomm launched an overclocked version called Snapdragon 768G. The CPU can go up to 2.8GHz, while the Adreno 620 GPU is clocked at 725 MHz.

Qualcomm revealed the new chipset is here to “deliver immersive gaming experiences and truly global 5G”. OEM customers of the chip company required an accelerated experience since the Snapdragon 765G was apparently not good enough.

The Snapdragon 768G is the first 7-series platform to support Adreno Updateable GPU drivers and it can support screens of up to 120Hz refresh rate.

The Snapdragon X52 modem is the identical to wha the 765 offers, and it supports all key regions and frequency bands both on the mmWave and sub-6GHz, both SA and NSA modes and global 5G roaming. The modem-RF system can deliver up to 3.7Gbps downlink speeds and up to 1.6 Gbps uplink.

The first phone with the new chipset will be the Redmi K30 Racing Edition, introduced by Xiaomi today. More should be on the way shortly.
