Realme 12 4G launches with Snapdragon 685, OLED display and 50MP camera
The Realme number series had been absent from Pakistan for a couple of years, but it’s back with two models – the Realme 12+ and a new Realme 12 4G. The 12+ is the same as the global model, a 5G phone based on the Dimensity 7050, but the vanilla model is different from what we normally see.
For starters, this version is powered by the Snapdragon 685, a 6nm chip that is a continuation of the 680 design with a 4G modem (X11, Cat 13). This is the same chipset as on the Realme 12 Lite. But this isn’t the Lite and has quite a few changes compared to the other models – in fact, the phone has very little in common with the global Realme 12.
Instead of an LCD, it uses a 6.67” OLED display with the same 120Hz refresh rate and 1,080 x 2,400px resolution. This one boasts double the brightness at 2,000 nits peak and it has unnamed strengthened glass. Also, with the new display panel type, the fingerprint reader moves from the side to under the display.
Also, the 108MP camera of the global version is replaced by a 50MP Sony LYT-600, a relatively small 1/1.95” sensor. It has an f/1.9 lens with OIS and is limited to 1080p @ 30fps video recording. There’s only a 2MP depth sensor next to the main camera. The selfie module has a 16MP sensor.
This Realme 12 4G retains the dedicated microSD slot (plus room for two SIM cards), a 3.5mm headphone jack and dual speakers. It kept the basic dust and water resistance too (IP54).
The battery is different too, but this is an upgrade for a change – the 5,000mAh capacity power cell now supports 67W charging (1-50% in 19 minutes, 100% in 47 minutes). The phone is even bundled with an 80W charger. The other Realme 12 tops out at 45W.
The Realme 12+ will be available from Shopee, Lazada and TikTok at a price of PKR 75,000 for an 8/256GB unit.
The Realme 12 4G is available in 8/128GB and 8/256GB configurations and its price starts at PKR 60,000 (that converts to USD 215/EUR 200/INR 18,000). The original 5G Realme 12 is sold in India for INR 18,000 if you go for the 8/128GB model (there is also a version with 6GB of RAM).
