Karate kid, 22 Apr 2020Performance isn't identical
G90T is far better and long-te... moreMediaTek Helios G90T is no doubt a good SoC. However to me it was Helios P60 on 2018, that brought Mediatek back on track and on par with Qualcomm for the first time ever. I generally divide SoC performance into three distinct parts:
1) CPU performance
2) GPU performance
3) Manufacturing process
In 2018, price-wise Realme 1 armed with P60 directly pitted against Redmi Note 5 Pro & Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 sporting Snapdragon 636. There was also Oppo F7 with P60 which I personally own. It was the first time Mediatek truly won over Snapdragon counterparts.
Realme 1 was selling like hot cross buns in India and was considered the mid-range gaming beast. Not only P60 was slight faster be it CPU or GPU than SD636 but it was also built on a more efficient 12nm manufacturing process when Qualcomm was using 14nm in its SD636 resulting in less power draw and less heat.
P60 laid the foundation and all its successors be it P65, G70, P90 till G90T used the same 12nm fab process. The G90T is no doubt a great SoC performance wise but efficiency wise in 2019 it has lost the war. We now have Snapdragon 730G nearly equaling performance of G90T but built on much efficient 8nm process and is a much better long term choice. So in my eyes P60 was the real winner from Mediatek in its time frame, not the G90T.
The use of thin steel plate over Realme 6 battery is not for heat resistance but for structural integrity of the phone. To keep cost low the phone is made with cheap plastic body and on the rear of the phone we practically get a shiny plastic sheet. So to maintain the structural integrity of the phone and make the phone as cheap as possible Realme had included a thin steel sheet inside & over the battery so that the phone does not bend easily. Also contrary to your belief the steel plate is an excellent heat conductor rather than acting as heat resistance.
In 2020, the G90T consumes much more power than Snapdragon 730G and produces more heat mainly due to the use of old & cheaper fab process making unit price cheaper than 720G & 730G. In long term these power draw and heat will be an issue just like Snapdragon 652 on its hay days. It is the very reason why Realme 6 Pro comes with 720G and not G90T.

RishiGuru, 21 Apr 2020Dosn't matter. Truth is truth. SD730 is far effecient chips... more"Far efficient" is a big stretch, isn't it? Even Realme 3 with Helio P60 lasts 7-8 hours in PUBG, so 730G should last 12 hours?
Yes, truth is truth and the truth is that all brands false advertise, including Snapdragon. In fact, Snapdragon/Qualcomm was caught faking benchmarks before Mediatek even launched its first mobile chipset.
Do your research lmao

G90T is far better and long-term better choice and capable of dealing with heavy games better than SD730G
And the heat is not a problem, the important pieces inside the phones are protected with a layer of heat-resistant stainless steel, like the battery you can watch a teardown video to make sure of that
Not only that, but also realme UI software controls heating well

RishiGuru, 18 Apr 2020I have lost a lot of faith on Mediatek chipsets recently. W... moreHow many times are you going to copy/paste this essay on Mediatek phones?
It's common knowledge that all brands manipulate charts. Even Samsung, Apple and Huawei have been caught advertising DSLR pictures as from their phone's camera.
That's why people refer to practical tests by real users. Helio G70 gives solid 40FPS in PUBG and around 50FPS if you use PGT Pro app.
Helio G90T gives similar game performance as Snapdragon 730.
So as far as we, consumers/buyers are concerned, we don't care whether Huawei or Mediatek is false advertising. Because literally every brand does the same.

Anonymous, 16 Mar 2020It is important to note, Dimensity 800 is much more powerfu... moreI have lost a lot of faith on Mediatek chipsets recently. With tech editors of Anandtech website revealing how Mediatek is currently cheating on benchmark scores, it is of no surprise PCMark and 3DMark have recently de-registered more than 50 current devices from over 25 different phone manufacturers running on Mediatek chipsets. This includes any phone running with P20, P60, P70, P65, G70, G80, P90, G90 and G90T. This a major blow for Mediatek and very well end up in lawsuit. Below is the current statement from UL, the developers of the PCMark and 3DMark:
Using hidden mechanisms to detect benchmarking apps by name and make app-specific performance optimizations is not an "accepted industry standard." It is, in fact, the very opposite of the accepted standard.
Likewise, benchmark scores based on hidden app-specific optimizations and settings that are enabled by default and not available to the user do not accurately reflect a device's true performance in everyday use.
Simply put, a device must run a benchmark as if it was any other application. Performance gains must come from reacting to the nature of the workloads in the test rather than the name of the app itself.
As it has with similar cases in the past, we hope this delisting will help persuade MediaTek to change its approach and join the rest of the industry in adopting benchmarking best practices.
