Due to thermal throttling performance of your game drastically falls resulting is choppy frame rates which can be quite disturbing or unplayable.
You see a great AnTuTu scores or for that matter any synthetic benchmarks does not always indicate great sustained gaming performance. But it is a good indicator & great marketing tool. Just by looking at the tear-downs I find the Redmi Note 8 Pro should handle the G90T better, due to its much bigger heat-sinks than RealMe 6.
As of 2020, personally even if I adore the specs of G90T I steer clear out of it. A SoC is much greater than just synthetic benchmarks and the much older 12 nm fabrication process used in G90T is the root cause. That's why it is so cheap as they are using a 2 year old fab process first seen in their Helio P60 in 2018. If Mediatek have built the G90T on a 8nm node, it would have killed the Snapdragon 730G on birth.
I better go for Snapdragon 720G or 730G devices built on much efficient 8 nm fab process resulting in much less heat and battery drain. That's the reason why Realme 6 Pro and latest Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with Snapdragons.

AnonD-844967, 29 Apr 2020For "Heavy" gaming, this or realme 5 pro? And why?I prefer realme 6, the specs speaks for itself, the antutu score of realme 6 outscores the realme 5 pro even though the 5 pro has snapdraon processor compared to a mediatek g90t of the realme 6, you'll also get a 90hz screen refresh rate which is really good for gaming, supports fast charging and has a 30w charger, also good for gaming, the only downside is when you play games they say it gets hot like 60 degrees celcius

Anonymous, 28 Apr 2020Snapdragon like you say will always be better but hey...who... moreAndroid version upgrades becomes a big problem with Mediatek chipsets as they often does falter in not having updated drivers of the newest versions of Android. And even if they do provide those drivers they are not as optimized as previous ones.
This is one side of the coin.
Qualcomm garner monopoly is smartphone SoC business. They are considered the best and they decide the unit price which smartphone manufacturers need to pay.
In case of Mediatek the manufacturers demand their chipsets at far lesser price or else they will go for Qualcomm. Hence they provide good performance with old fab process. Take Helio G90T as an example. Hence they have much less money left to perform proper software updates.
This is the story of the other side of the coin.
In the end neither Mediatek nor the smartphone manufacturers are to blame fully. It is Qualcomm monopoly.

The phone will lag and stutter after few round of COD.
1st few round is good and smooth but once the moment the players are gathered and shooting the stuttering and lag is severe.. no doubt is all good but once come to heavy gaming it start to lag

RishiGuru, 23 Apr 2020MediaTek Helios G90T is no doubt a good SoC. However to me ... moreSnapdragon like you say will always be better but hey...who holds it's smartphone for more than 2 years these days?
Also mediatek is worse and slower when it comes to updates.

AnonD-844967, 24 Apr 2020to anyone who really owns yhe device.
what is your experin... moreSo far the phone was running good.no lag, no error, no nothing.
The battery is doing well somehow... With 90Hz refresh rate IPS screen, and mediatek processor this phone battery can hold up to 7-12 hours if you use it nonstop. And 1 and a half day for part time uses
I don't know why but the brightness of this phone was lower than my 2016 Lenovo phone at the highest brightness even tho this phone has 480 nits
For the performance this mediatek processor was the main rival of Snapdragon 720g. For PUBG it can run smooth-extreme and HDR-ultra for the 8/128 type. For the 4/128 type only Smooth-extreme and HD-high. I don't know what happened but I think it's only software problem. Also the framereate was smooth on either settings with well you know it's mediatek, slightly heating when you played it for too long.and also an battery drainer, 8 to 12 percent per chicken dinner (about 25-30 min)
The Camera was kind of good. I'm not a camera person personally but I kind of liked the camera. The main was 16mp,but also can be changed to 64mp but the only downside is you can't zoom it. It has macro, portrait, and wide angle. I forgot to mention that it has the night mode but, after I tried it. it doing well for the midrange phone like this, this night mode was not intended for low light of course. Theres a pro mode where you can do the settings like a pro photographers. But I don't know, everytime I changed one of the settings the pic turned either black or super white. Maybe I just don't know how pro photography works.
The charging was fast, I left it for a shower for 5 minutes it charged from 25% to 33%. It kind of fast if you ask me, and it fully charged for 40 min if you charge it from 20% and the exact 1 hour (60 min) if you charge it from 0%.because I don't know why there's a 10 minutes delay when the battery reached 99% to be 100%.
The realme UI was kind of helpfull. Well it's like the other brand UI but I don't sincerely know how this phone UI works. I mean come on I just buy this phone 2 weeks ago.
That's all I have to say I guess.

RishiGuru, 18 Apr 2020I have lost a lot of faith on Mediatek chipsets recently. W... moreYou already wrote that and I answered...
Cheating with task scheduler won't give you 30 to 70% extras performances on an properly coded application.
Anandtech should know that.
For long time, PCMark doesn't work properly...
With properly tests, Anandtech should know that.
As PCMark wasn't updated since August 2017, is it serious?
PCMark forgets to use big cores, this is really easy to proove...
Ans this is really easy to proove that it doesn't fit with reallity.
For exemple...on their webbrowsing test : no big cores!
On real webbrowser : big cores.
You can't trust in PCMark's results on Mediatek's or Rockchip's...and you won't have any results on Amlogic's or Realtek's as the application will crash.
I start having serious doubt about Anandtech too! This article and their conclusion based on a unique defaillant application is a pure shame!

Karate kid, 22 Apr 2020Performance isn't identical
G90T is far better and long-te... moreMediaTek Helios G90T is no doubt a good SoC. However to me it was Helios P60 on 2018, that brought Mediatek back on track and on par with Qualcomm for the first time ever. I generally divide SoC performance into three distinct parts:
1) CPU performance
2) GPU performance
3) Manufacturing process
In 2018, price-wise Realme 1 armed with P60 directly pitted against Redmi Note 5 Pro & Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 sporting Snapdragon 636. There was also Oppo F7 with P60 which I personally own. It was the first time Mediatek truly won over Snapdragon counterparts.
Realme 1 was selling like hot cross buns in India and was considered the mid-range gaming beast. Not only P60 was slight faster be it CPU or GPU than SD636 but it was also built on a more efficient 12nm manufacturing process when Qualcomm was using 14nm in its SD636 resulting in less power draw and less heat.
P60 laid the foundation and all its successors be it P65, G70, P90 till G90T used the same 12nm fab process. The G90T is no doubt a great SoC performance wise but efficiency wise in 2019 it has lost the war. We now have Snapdragon 730G nearly equaling performance of G90T but built on much efficient 8nm process and is a much better long term choice. So in my eyes P60 was the real winner from Mediatek in its time frame, not the G90T.
The use of thin steel plate over Realme 6 battery is not for heat resistance but for structural integrity of the phone. To keep cost low the phone is made with cheap plastic body and on the rear of the phone we practically get a shiny plastic sheet. So to maintain the structural integrity of the phone and make the phone as cheap as possible Realme had included a thin steel sheet inside & over the battery so that the phone does not bend easily. Also contrary to your belief the steel plate is an excellent heat conductor rather than acting as heat resistance.
In 2020, the G90T consumes much more power than Snapdragon 730G and produces more heat mainly due to the use of old & cheaper fab process making unit price cheaper than 720G & 730G. In long term these power draw and heat will be an issue just like Snapdragon 652 on its hay days. It is the very reason why Realme 6 Pro comes with 720G and not G90T.
