Super Android 22, 12 Apr 2023So cloud storage exsists, loads my 4k 60fps 5 min+ videos b... moreI'd take the sd card myself. In my experience there is very little chance for it to break, rather than NOT have access to my data in cases of limited/no internet connection, and I'd rather not give Google or any other service my personal data on a silver platter.

Oh and just to appease your argument of it being "expensive" to design, no, it is absolutely not. Space can be made for any needed/desired component, it will not cost "millions" or even any figure close to that to design the next phone with the desired ports. If any decent engineer wanted to design it, they very well could given the appropriate amount of resources. It is absolutely a company decision to remove these things, not any "cost-saving" approach as what you seem to be implying.

MRSTEK, 06 Apr 2023If you guys are really that fear of losing data, I'd r... moreWhat do you mean

MJs, 04 Apr 2023This is the first time I've seen the "mechanical ... moreSo cloud storage exsists, loads my 4k 60fps 5 min+ videos basically instantly and i have access to them from any device that can log in to google photos and i can download all pics/vids/documents etc to my phone or any other device i want. I have over thousand pictures and atleast 20 videos in 4k longer than 4 minutes each (from 2 concerts). I pay like £1.50 or around that for 100gb i think a month. Thats not including the 24/7 support with it to an actual person, can have a couple of family members on the plan to access their own space, discounts on shopping, flights, holidays and other things. Thats nkt even naming all the benefits, i now get all the pixel editor features so i have a pixel for editing things aswell (i own an oppo find x5, makes owning a pixel pretty pointless now lol).

Or i buy a £130 sd card (1tb sd card) that isnt as quick, has to be removed and inserted and CAN break at any time so all data lost... Its a no brainer tbh (unless your work and life style dictate you absolutely need the sd slot which some people actually do need it).

Oh this isnt including the cost it takes manufactures to add sd card and headphone jack ports. Your £1200 s23u would be £1500 with them purely because of cost of R&D for the device and the materials used, it costs millions just to get it right and with no sd slot or jack its a lot cheaper and easier to design/place other way more important parts, its why cheap phones with those features either lack massively in some areas or will lack massively in software support which costs companies probably millions aswell.

Also most devices now will interconnect to other devices (tvs connecting to BT headphones, phones, laptops etc and monitors and tvs basically running android and can download the cloud storage apps including things like xbox one/series x/s) or can use sim cards/wifi so again can just more efficiently transfer data wirelessly, which in 2023 is really not an issue with 4g and 5g download and upload speeds and up to 1gb wifi speeds and ive lived in the middle of nowhere with literally 10 deadspots surrounding me. Worst case you buy a type C to type C cable, pretty sure usb 3.1 can do 5gb/s transfer speeds.

Sd card and jack etc have their use cases but they arent as efficent/make life harder and are used by professionals like content creators as an example (they'll use flagship sony devices with the potential for video and photo editing and an esports/twitch gamer who will use asus rog phones/iphones, the rest are people who want more for their money so will buy best value phones which generally are mid rangers/low end phones). Very small minority still wanting them unfortunately, I'd happily have the features if it didnt increase pricing etc.

i would have to forget about sd card if 1tb variant actually existed. but only missing is audio jack, realme phones are notorious when it comes to speakers. they did not invest much on good speakers though. lack of bass, just mids and top ends.

Modes Mind, 03 Apr 2023At 16GB/1TB available option, no need for SD.Nah too much. Even 256GB is enough for daily use.

The main colour here is too flashy.

It's like writing checks in 2023. It's too outdated! The reason phones ever had micro sd is because earlier cheap phones had little internal storage. Now 128 gb is the minimum standard; I have 128 gb and 50 gb are still unused, so if you use micro sd you're either as old as Mother Earth, just want to waste your time or you are mr. anti-upgrade.

Man is this really the best phone ever made and is actually affordable and no 1000+ dollars like the top tier ones S23 Ultra e.t.c? I hope it becomes available in my country seems so top notch compared to anything i have ever seen.

Imagine needing to bring another dongle when the device could be all that is needed. Another chance for something to break. I don't want to have something hanging off my phone when I am moving and taking video with the camera. That otg can be easily lost inside a bag due to its size and modular nature as well, unlike a microsd card meant to stay inside until needed for transfer.

If you fail to see even some of the things I mentioned prior then I am sorry to say that you're not part of the audience who can fully utilize it anyway. Just please don't disregard the people who do, they are very real and have very real reasons for wanting useful features.

It solves most of you said easily no need to go harder mechanical ways.

AnonD-731363, 04 Apr 2023Man chance to break memory card and to break internal phone... moreThis is the first time I've seen the "mechanical parts are first to break" argument used for justifying removing features. If ever micro sd cards do break, the slot isn't compromised. Same case for headphone jacks. Going by that logic if they have to remove mechanical parts why haven't they removed the charging port already?
Why even make a device with an additional 4/96 points of failure in the first place?

For the sake of the device my ass, those things don't break nearly as much as you're implying. That 3 month figure has no basis at all. But for the sake of discussion, let's say they did break. Components should be repairable when the device is designed with it in mind. They aren't cuz it's more profitable to sell new devices.

I'm also gonna pretend the 4k60fps video recording manufacturers so eagerly brag about takes up only 20GB.

I'm fine with the 1TB, plenty enough for me not to need an sd card myself. But I respect that some people may need it, last I checked it was hella more convenient to plug in microsd cards straight from a camera to a phone for convenient checking/uploads and other similar use cases.
Just please don't defend the lack of features. Especially on high-end (very expensive) phones with a quarter of the storage and no sd card expandability. Microsd card expandability is cheap, reliable, and convenient, what good reason would people have to reject such features?
