Redmi Note 8 Pro and Note 8 arrive in India

After making their official debuts more than a month ago, the Redmi Note 8 Pro and Redmi Note 8 were also introduced in India. They bring quad cam setups, big batteries and some India specific features at a very competitive price point.

Starting with the Redmi 8 Pro, it brings the 64 MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 camera, Helio G90T chipset, a 4,500 mAh battery and a dedicated microSD slot which is exclusive for the Indian variant.

Upfront we have a 6.53-inch FHD+ panel with HDR support and a notch for the 20MP selfie camera. The back comes with a quad-camera setup and fingerprint reader stacked horizontally.

The big star here is the 64MP main shooter. There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP depth sensor and a dedicated 2MP macro lens with 2cm focus distance capabilities.

The 4,500 mAh battery can be topped up at 18W and Xiaomi will include the 18W charger in the box. On the software front you get Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 on top and the Alexa voice assistant now comes built-in.

Pricing for the Redmi Note 8 Pro starts at INR 14,999 ($210) for the 6/64GB variant and tops out at INR 17,999 ($250) for the 8/128GB version. Sales start on October 21.

Alongside the Redmi Note 8 Pro, Xiaomi is bringing the Redmi Note 8 to India. It comes with a quad-camera setup with a 48MP main shooter, 8 MP ultrawide lens, 2MP macro lens and 2MP depth helper. Other key features include a 6.3-inch FHD+ display, 4,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charger in the box and a dedicated microSD slot.

Like the Note 8 Pro, the Note 8 comes with a dual glass build and has a fingerprint reader on the back. Under the hood, we have the Snapdragon 665 chipset which is paired with 6 GB RAM and up to 128GB storage.

The Redmi Note 8 comes in Space Black, Neptune Blue, Cosmic Purple and Moonlight White and will be available starting October 21. The 4/64GB version will go for INR 9,999 ($140) while the 6/128GB INR 12,999 ($180).
