Redmi with 64MP camera coming in Q4, Mi Mix 4 to get a 108MP sensor

Ivan, 07 August 2019

Realme formally announced its partnership with Samsung to bring a smartphone with its new 64MP ISOCELL sensor to market in Q4 of this year.

Xiaomi claims Redmi will be one of the first brands in the world to feature the new sensor. It should come to India first and will likely be the Redmi Note 8.

The Samsung-made camera uses a huge 1/1.7-inch sensor with 1.6μm-sized pixels (when combined from 4 into 1), improved color reproduction, as well as Hybrid 3D HDR that promises higher dynamic range compared to current sensors.

In other exciting camera news Xiaomi will be the first maker to adopt Samsung's 108MP ISOCELL sensors, which should allow for 27MP pixel-binned images.

According to popular leakster @Iceuniverse the sensor will premiere in the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4. Earlier the company promised the Mi Mix 4 will come with a "better than 64MP", but we assumed it's about using a new version rather than an entirely different solution.

I have 5 Cybershot with Xenon flash. Automatic options are exceptional, best thing is no need to downscale photos for uploading to web, although I still do it because I'm a conservative and considerate individual.
