RedmiBook Pro 15 with Ryzen 5800H and 90 Hz display unveiled, Pro 14 with Ryzen 5700U follows
They were supposed to come out together, but the Intel-powered RedmiBook Pro laptops were unveiled in late February, while the AMD-powered ones are arriving only now. Better late than never, we suppose. There are two Ryzen-based laptops to choose from, one 14” and one 15.6”, each with two options for the APU.
The RedmiBook Pro 15 can be had with either the Ryzen 5 5600H (6c/12t) or the Ryzen 7 5800H (8c/16t). Both are 35W TDP parts based on the latest Zen 3 core (Cezanne). The laptops rely on their integrated Radeon graphics (with 7 and 8 CU, respectively) as there is no additional GPU.
The two RedmiBook Pro 14 drop to 15W APUs – the Ryzen 5 5500U (6c/12t) and Ryzen 7 5700U (8c/16t). Note that both of these are based on the older Zen 2 core (Lucienne). The H-series APUs get dual fan cooling, while the lower power U-series are cooled by a single fan.
The 15.6” laptops have the better screen, a 3,200 x 2,000 px panel (16:10) with 90 Hz refresh rate and DC dimming. This one targets 100% sRGB coverage, 300 nits of brightness and 1,500:1 contrast ratio.
The 14” model also has a 16:10 screen, though this one is less sharp due to its 2,560 x 1,600 px resolution (it’s 242 ppi vs. 216 ppi). The smaller panel also stick to the standard 60 Hz, but at least it matches the other one with 100% sRGB, 300 nits of brightness and DC dimming.
Of course, the larger laptop weighs more too, 1.8 kg (3.97 lbs), but also has a larger battery – a 70 WHr battery with support for 100W fast charging. The smaller model is lighter, 1.42 kg (3.13 lbs) and has a 56 WHr battery with 65W charging. Both batteries can power 14 hours of web browsing before they need to be charged.
In both cases the chassis is CNC-machined aluminum. You get two USB-C ports, one USB-A, an HDMI port and headphone jack along with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. There’s also a fingerprint reader built into the Power button.
Whichever size or APU you pick, the laptop will come configured with 16 GB of dual channel DDR4 RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Sales of the two RedmiBook Pro Ryzen Edition laptops starts on June 1, the prices are below.
Price | (approx. $/€ price) | |
RedmiBook Pro 14 (5500U) | CNY 4,300 | ($675/€550) |
RedmiBook Pro 14 (5700U) | CNY 4,700 | ($735/€600) |
RedmiBook Pro 15 (5600H) | CNY 4,800 | ($750/€615) |
RedmiBook Pro 15 (5800H) | CNY 5,300 | ($830/€680) |

Who cares about the design? They don't need to reinvent the wheel. It's a mac ripoff with ryzen, which is a perfect combo for me. Hopefully it won't have any major flaws. Getting mine in a week.
