Report: Apple's in-house modem pushed back to late 2025, early 2026
Apple's development of an in-house modem isn't going according to plan. Per a Bloomberg report, Apple's modem won't be ready for the Spring of 2025, as previously rumored.
According to the report, Apple will push back the modem to the end of 2025 or even early 2026. This ties in nicely with Apple's extended modem deal with Qualcomm, which is currently penned until 2026.
Making your own modem is a complicated thing - currently, only Qualcomm, Samsung, Huawei, MediaTek, and Intel have a 5G modem.
Reports have suggested that Apple's effort on that front isn't going smoothly and that it's currently three years behind Qualcomm, which is the leader of sorts. This isn't going to be as easy as ditching Intel processors and developing your own ARM-based chips.
