13 November 2013
Nexus phone releases are timed to let Google have the last word – and what a way to have it! A phone that matches any flagship on specs and premieres the latest OS version, but costs barely half as much as some of them. The Nexus 5 promises a....

Please redo the battery life tests on 4.4.2 as many reviewers have said the updates have improved battery life substantially. Also if you can, please explore the changes in battery life switching to ART from Dalvik.

I saw this device in the mall.. I have an HTC One.. After using such a marvellous phone, I am kinda used to such fluidity and make.. The volume buttons on the nexus are wobbly, kinda they mk this clicky sound like they'll fall off.. The build quality is not very good for a 33.5k phone.. I can get s4 for that much in India n note 2 for far less thn that.. I got my HTC for almost as much as that.. So I don't think cost was a prob to give better quality.. Plus the camera takes so long to click a pic, in my phone just tap n done.. There's no tap n wait in today's day n age.. Cam quality below par.. Google could do a lot better.. I feel the nexus 4 was a much better device over all with better details..

Protocol, 26 Jan 2014Camera performance is below average. Battery life is shit a... moreI don't know about your Nexus5, but mine works perfectly well with a OTG device!
I use my 'kickstarter'- Meenova Mini MicroSD card reader which plugs directly into the micro usb port:

        http://www.meenova.com/st/p/m3r.html

Furthermore the camera takes wonderful pictures an movies!
I use the following camera apps:
(both are way better than the standard camera app.)

        https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smugmug.android.cameraawesome

And if I want to take pictures in low light this one is the best you can buy in the playstore:

        https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.almalence.opencam

I made two shortcuts on my homescreen so I can switch quickly from one to the other ;)

        About the battery:
All I can say is that it is VERY GOOD.
I last a full day of intense usage with i-net/push (GMail) and a lot of WhatsApp messaging.

        You could install Greenify:

        https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify

You realy should try these before writing a comment that hold no ground.

After all THIS IS a Google phone and you can mod it any way you like to get it working like you want it!

Camera performance is below average. Battery life is shit and you see Google disabled the feature to connect USB sticks, card reader through the USB OTG port which means Google wants to force you to use their cloud storage. Android is open source but Google is making it closed source..

Actually the battery life is alright. As long as you turn off Google now. I can easily get 4-5 hours of screen on time during a 15-18 hours a day and I'm not a light user.it all depend on how you use it

having owned a Nexus 5. the phone is awesomel. light and powerful. but poor battery life, and camera. shame. The Moto G camera is better, seems more colourfull. and less blurry.

Anonymous, 24 Jan 2014Any improvement in battery life?Exactly, one of the main things missing in this review after the update. Though nothing great should be expected there could be improvements of upto 1 hr on each of the tests. Might not be much but given what we had from the launch version, anything batter is welcome.
