I am writing this from my four day old note 10.1 2014. I am disappointed in it. I'll admit thati don't know how to use all the features, etc, but I chose it over the ipad air for the note taking and s pen. It isn't nearly as handy as I thought it would be because you can't use the handwriting to text in very many apps and when taking notes on the s notes app or lecture notes, you run out of space to quick since it doesn't automatically change the handwriting to text like the previous version. BUT- the big great disappointment is the speed. It lags a lot and freezes up even though I havent used much memory. The first 20 minutes I used it after set up it crashed and said "unfortunately system UI has stopped". I'm going to give it a few more days before I take it back.

first samsung galaxy note 10.1 hardware is good and has fantastic features but i prefer ipad because f its simple and nice os and the endless entertaitment on the app store also i think android is te worst thing i have ever saw with its stupid play store

Im using samsung galasy note 10.1 less than 2 yrs, for ibought it right away as id seen it in market,last month I bought its 2014 edition and gave to my wife (half of it,its samsung gal
axy note 10.1 with gear) .The question is? What will be the next promising notes or tablet? Is it from Samsung or Apple ?

I think note 10.1 supports apt-x codec bluetooth. does the new edition note 10.1 (2014) suppotrs apt-x codec bluetooth?

I would defnitely go for samsung galaxy note 3 10.1 2014, just because it is more useful than any other ipad...... Cuz i own an ipad 3 which is only Good in photography.

ipad do not need 3gb ram . it's not needed to use 3gb ram . so that's not an advantage .

Well measuring specs sure G. Note 2014 is better. So sure I bought one. But is laggy and buggy. Don't recommend. I'm Samsung fan. Have a G. Note 2, G. Note 8, and I sold my Ipad 2 to buy g. Note 2014 edition. But it is not a good product. Very worst than my older devices! I shall sell it for the next nexus 10, probably...

No competition here Samsung completely and utterly defeats the useless Apple Ipad Air in every department, if I get a tablet it will either be from Sony or Samsung, never Apple and don't see the point of the Apple ipad range of tablets anyway, Android tablets will now rule.

Latina, 03 Dec 2013what excites U about Stylus which your finger can't do? Cea... moreThe s-pen is 1 of the most useful features in any tablet, even if you don't need it. I find it much easier to browse the net with the pen as I don't have to constantly move my arm to touch different areas on the screen, the length of the pen allows me to reach the whole screen with just a wrist movement, I know it isn't hard to move my arm when using fingers but im lazy and tablets are all about making life easier. also, I have the ability to hover over buttons without clicking them, something that was previously limited to a mouse, this is especially useful when selecting categories on shopping websites for example.
Anyone who uses a remote desktop app such as splashtop will love the s-pen as the cursor on your pc will follow the cursor on your tablet screen when hovering the pen over the screen, if only I could find an app that allows me to use the button on the pen as right click on my pc, this would be so sweet.
I honestly thought I would never use the s-pen when I got my note 10.1 but now, using my fingers is a rarity, saying that though, typing long comments like this one is a lot quicker with fingers.

iPad Air is flawed with frequent low memory crashes due to Apple cheapening it out with only 1GB DRAM. There's an active "iPad Air low memory crash" thread on discussions dot apple dot com.

With same amount of 181cd/m2 brightness, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition at 41% brightness, actually has slightly better battery life than iPad Air.
If set Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition to power saving mode (something like only 2 core CPU are running), it battery life actually outperform iPad Air by large margin.
