Motorola Moto G review: Little big G

11 December 2013
Having spent the best part of two years cleaning the Motorola pipeline of products conceived before the takeover, Google finally has a shop with its name on it. And it’s not afraid to use it to challenge some of the old habits and experienced players...

all these people bashing Moto G must be crazy OR they never used it!

i am a proud Moto G owner and what i have to say is: you CAN'T ask for anything better at this price range!
the screen is superb! very crisp, colors are beautiful and even in low brightness, it is still pretty damn bright! because it's an IPS LCD screen, viewing angles are wide! the screen is just the best you can get at this price point, it DOESEN'T feel at all you are holding a cheap phone!

design and build are also really good! i like the simple clean design, the shells feel strong (i have Colors Edition) and it's a really fun bonus you can swap covers as you like! also because of the ergonomics, the phone feels rly comfortable while holding!

performance wise, i found no lags, hiccups or freezing so far! already did multi-tasking with like 8-10 apps, going from one to another as fast as phones that are more expensive! games like Dead Trigger 2 run smoothly even with high settings! and performance will be EVEN better when Kitkat arrives, since it is optimized even for 512Mb ram!

i had some issues browsing the web with Chrome...but i believe this is an app issue, because Dolphin is butter smooth!

the only downside i see is the camera, that could be a lot better but, for whatever reason, Motorola gave us that poor and simple software lol but again, at this price range, still delivers images good enough for social use!

i rly don't see HOW pplz can complain and ask for more at this price range '-' if you want something better, then go and pay for something better! don't just expect a $179 (8GB) - $199 (16GB) to deliver the same as a flagship phone or more expensive phones!

and i'm speaking as a Moto G OWNER!
so go on and bash as much as you like with all this nonsense, i know this is a great phone that delivers an experience others can't at this price range!

Moto G has 1.3 MP front facing camera, while Xperia M has VGA.
Xperia M can't even handle properly a 1080p video & you are telling it is A15?? LOL.

AnonD-187321, 12 Dec 2013Advg of G G has 329ppi m has 228ppi approx 4.4 and u may ... moreMoto G has gorilla glass 3 which is a brilliant scratch protection on screen(even so many high end phone lacks this). It also has water repealing nano coating inside and outside. (dissapointed, gsmarena didn't mention this). The camera is not that bad, it's the fault of the default camera app on the phone. Use camera360 app. One of the best camera app in play store, you will notice the difference in image quality. It just rocks.
Audio output also better than Xperia M.
Non-Removable battery is not a cons nowadays. Bcoz people are changing smartphones every year.
Heavy graphics game runs significantly smoother and reliably if it is stored in internal memory. Moto G 16GB has 13.5 GB unified phone memory. Xperia M has only 1.2 GB free(out of 4GB) for apps. Although it can be moved to SD card, but it need root.
Xperia M also facing heating problems.

Hello dumb. Before calling anyone dumb do more research about chipset.
Xperia M uses Qualcomm MSM8227 chipset, which is based on cortex A7 achitecture. Krait doesn't means A15.
Here is the link of sony official developer page. Read it carefully.
                            http://developer.sonymobile.com/2013/06/04/xperia-m-joins-sonys-smartphone-portfolio-comes-with-dual-core-processor-hdr-for-photos-dual-sim-version/
And here is the technical details of that chipset
                            http://system-on-a-chip.findthedata.org/l/267/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-MSM8227
Adreno 305 is same on both. No difference. Moto G is the first phone to use this quad core Snapdragon 400, which has four cores. Two more than Xperia M. Moto G even play games like Real Racing 3 smoothly. Don't just criticize without valid facts.
Every review praised Moto G, for its performance. It just blows away other budget phone. Also in display ppi is not everythin. The contrast, colour, brightness is far better in Moto G. The viewing angle is poor in Xperia M, while Moto G has good viewing angle.

No wall adapter? What's next, micro USB cable not included....battery not included? The very minimum of accessories should be a cable, and a charger.
