Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs. Nokia Lumia 1520: Bigger, better, faster

27 December 2013
We venture again into the realm of phablets, one that at the beginning seemed to promise little more than a short burst of action, has become the scene of some of the most thrilling battles this industry has seen. The showdown we’re about to witness...

darknite, 06 Jan 2014If you could please read the last two summary paragraphs of... moreYou are the one in denial that they are not just staying professional as stated. They leave off every comparison like this this. That does not mean every device is equal.
Yes in the end like said what you want is user preference, but the win and advantages here are more than obvious. The Note 3 has almost every advantage. Even where the Lumia should've.

They were just calmly telling you. You are the one fuming here. And had the 1520 come out on top you would be sitting here til the death defending how it beat out a Samsung and Android. Even your words saying how much you like the article because it "thumps Samsung's win theory".
You are provoking because you do not like the results or what you see them saying.

I have always been a fan of gsmarena and this comparison gives another reason for the same. I am a Lumia fan, and therefore was bit disappointed that on certain parameters Note-3 got a nod over 1520. However, there are proper factual reasons given for the same rather than user perceptions.
It is heartening to see someone actually count all the merits of 1520 and Note-3 over one another, in such clear and undisputable manner. I am going to buy 1520 soon and this article only motivated me further.
I liked the way the article was summarized saying that not all parameters concern everyone and even in certain parameters the reasons for choosing one over another may vary. It is a long article, but for anyone planning to buy any one of these devices, there could not be a better help.

I remember that Zune's had FM radios too and while that was a cool feature where can you buy one today. MS has a habit in the race of getting within a half a horse head and then shooting itself in the foot.

[deleted post]Ouch...Oh sorry... Now I understand... Your votes still did not make your android devices win?!

AnonD-80609, 06 Jan 2014They are professional. They cant jump into one ship unlike ... moreI like professional truthful reviews which are from a honest reliable site, i.e gsmarena. I don't read your egoistic self satisfying other websites!
If section by section devices...win and lose, won't that be just a matter of few words to summarize the final winner...?! But they dint do it...they had honestly written that it was Nokia's great victory here no matter, however you cry! It had stood up in spec to spec and in features challenging note3(which is a great device) denying its thumping victory! Now you have provoked me...as I had already agreed with an "Anonymous" that both devices are great...but you don't force feed your views in a Samsung victory here! Rather you could have voted for championship and tried there!

darknite, 06 Jan 2014If you could please read the last two summary paragraphs of... moreThey are professional. They cant jump into one ship unlike many other tech sites do. Coming to ur point, GSMA, need not pick winners in each section if they were just comparing. Tats left to us to decide. So it means if a team wins cup, do u say tat both are equal in thier own terms?? winner is just winner.

I dont have necessary to provoke someone! if u still say tat both are equal.... _/\_ a big bow !!!

AnonD-21645, 06 Jan 2014Firstly HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody! It's been a while since ... moreYes i agree with you. Even i am bored with android, but the thing is, both the other two os's are too closed. Im looking for ubuntu. May be tat ll bring some fresh air i think.

AnonD-80609, 06 Jan 2014Why is it so hard for you to take the defeat?? Do you still... moreIf you could please read the last two summary paragraphs of the article...it sums up. It is you...who lives in denial...frustrating and fuming from this article...sorry if it hurts, GSMarena is fair and just!

Last two paragraphs from the article...

"In a way, this is Nokia's great victory here - after years of waiting, we finally have a no-compromise top-end Lumia to cheer about. Those who wanted nothing but a Nokia smartphone that stood its ground against the mightiest smartphones in the world finally got it.
Anyway, back to the question at hand - which of these two should you buy. Counting the number of rounds taken by each device is the easy way to go about it, but it's not the one that yields the best results. Instead focus on those that really matter for your individual usage pattern and only count those. Better yet - read the whole chapters and see what made us pick one device over the other - perhaps not all of it applies to you, and you would call the score differently. Only then you'll be certain that you've truly picked the phablet that is right for you"

I'm very satisfied with the article for it denies Samsung's thumping win theory...that is for samsung to think and improve and MSnokia to match it in future...
Please do not provoke...I don't want to make this comment section heavy!

Well, this' s their opinion, in my opinion. I would pick the Nokia Lumia 1520 without a second glance. Its got everyhing i want and could possibly want though i' d rather it have LED rather than LCD.

Cheers :-)well I dont have any opinion about this two pablets, publets, tabphones or what so ever... and thats my reason why I making jokes for my self at here. but seriously both phones are good and beautiful. but why Nokia pricing their devices too much? do you have any idea why? the note3 wins in every aspect except the camera.. the Nokia lumia 1520 is a nice too but seems too much costly here in my country. I do not own any phones anyway... my phone is from competitors

                        Firstly HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody!
It's been a while since I wrote on here...
But let's start with the large battle that will always be Nokia vs Sammy!

You see, the mobile world has changed... and is still changing...

My last, crikey, three or four phones have been Sammy, from the G2, G3, to my current Note 2 (loving the phablet size and the SPen - will be sorry to lose that)...

But I've been Android for years before that...

And to be honest...like many I'm sure... I feel Android has stagnated... Kitkat has brought nothing new to the table...

Android tablets are still no match for iPads (I have one of those too) - and I've just bought a monster PC - and what I'd really like is a new mobile OS / home & mobile ecosystem... and a tablet to integrate the both together...

You can see where I'm going with this...
                        Windows + Winmo 8.1 + Surface..

It's the only viable alternative to iOS (still way too restrictive / dumbed down for my liking)
and don't get me wrong, I love my gmail / youtube / chrome.. but after trying a million launchers on Android, I'm still wanting that one 'customisable snapshot' look - that only windows tiles seem to provide...

I think 2014 will be the year for change from Android for many... Sony is entering Windows - and their designs are classy and they're finally getting their act together...Nokia now taken over by MS should generate new interest and designs...

And with Sammy unwilling to change their aesthetics or touchwiz in 4 years now... and diluting their brand considerably..it's definitely going to be a 3 horse race... the only way Android can go now is down (they are miles ahead) - with other OSs chipping away at their share of the market...

And for people like me who wouldn't touch an iPhone with a barge pole - Windows is the only true alternative...

Bring on the end of the year with the new phones and a fresh change of OS!
