Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo review: Neoclassic

31 January 2014
Three generations on, the Notes are gadgets that people can’t seem to get enough of so a new, less expensive, version must be good news for everyone. Well, except perhaps the Note II. Anyway, what was rumored as a Lite version of the Galaxy Note 3...

It's does not have gorilla glasses, this feature is not available in note 2 as well so better option is grand 2 now otherwise go for note 3..... But yes its a big investment but better then best. Gorilla glasses is very important feature for this kind of big screen phone and over after spending this much of money Samsung should give gorilla glasses on note 2 and note 3 neo as well.

there is something that i don't understand here. how could N3 Neo surpass N3 when it is the LITE version of N3 in Antutu benchmark? and for GPU benchmark, they put Samsung S4 twice on the ranking. huh?
plus, i don't see how this device would do well in the market. the price is quite similar to Note3 and of course people would go for Note3.

It will cannibalize Galaxy S4 though.

Here, pricing is really a big thing. If its pretty high, it will be a better option in Note 3. If the pricing is too low, it could affect the sale of Note 2. Samsung will have to be very precise with the price tag(especially in the Indian market)!!

                1) The neo is basically a refresh of the GN2.... its not meant to be top of the range specs. The price will settle out a fair bit less than the GN3 which is good for people looking for a good cheaper phablet.

                2) As a GN3 owner and having tried the 1520 and one max i would have to say 5.5-5.7 inches is a pretty sweet spot for a phablet as it's still really comfortable in a pocket.

                3) The Note 3 has great battery life (75 hours). The neo battery is only 100mAH smaller, the resolution is 720 and the screen slightly smaller. I think the battery life will beat the note 3. (plus it has replaceable batteries which cost about $20)

On the german website the N3 Neo is 499 € and the N3 is 508 € : spent only 9 € more and you get the much better real N3 and not the downgraded one...

This product should not be bought because of many reasons,

First: This was said to be budget phone but you can get even better specs with Huawei, Motorola and HTCso why get a phone that could be gotten for the lover price than whatn they got?

Second: The Screen is very small. You can gen bigger screen to other brand.

Third: The battery, it would not last longer than Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G

Anonymous, 01 Feb 2014Funny how people manage to make this into a discussion abou... moreThe Galaxy Grand is well-known for beeing crap. And in Asia you can now get nice phablets with 5.3"-6.0" with qHD or HD and 1GB RAM for 120-170 EURO (From Lenovo, Coolpad etc). So why would most people be interested in blowing 400 EUR on a budget Samsung (that is still Made in Vietnam) that doesn't even have FM radio?

If it's using pentile matrix though -you are right- it's of embarrasinly low quality. Apart from thanpt it seems better than a note 3. As fast but with less pixels to draw, smaller with almost as big screen and as I said, if rgb panel is being utilized almost equally clear.

                              It's a true note 3 this one...

If you have a flagship the least you can do is maintain it.After spending tons on a note 3 now this.I fail to see major difference between the two as functionality is essentially the same. Hope the larger iphones come out.im fed up with the rate at which samsung spits out phones

i think this will be a success in Asia, with the non LTE version priced below 350 Euro. Personally i would have problem with the low resolution on this size but looking at the success of Galaxy Grand its clear that most people dont care.

And great processor, i hope it works as intended with all those cores, now add to that 2GB RAM and that the (useless but loved by many) S-pen, all this on a budget phablet and the sales will be literally phabulous.
