Samsung Galaxy S5 vs LG G2: Life in the fast lane

This has been going on for a while now but, as both makers are keener than ever to outdo each other in the race to the Android top, their flagships are only getting more and more alike. The biggest difference is now in the timing, which is also part of the game...

I agree with your comments "The improvements are becoming subtler and new additions are easily dismissed like gimmicks - until manufacturers really try hard to make them count" Does the S5 bash the door down, no not really, is it streets ahead of the LG, no not really, does it rewrite mobile phones, no not really. Very subtle gains, but in essence not the quantum leap forward that commentators are crowing about. Benchmarks, well for the geeks perhaps to make them excited, but really what else, the screen? Is that all there is? I am disappointed, because there is nothing exciting about the S5 when you look at it - evolutionary, and modest at that, but it will sell heaps. OK, the camera is sensational but that is all.

          Yes, one of them is (LG G2) last year's phone, and the other is a new one. And very interesting that the last year one points is next to this years phone. One of them is about 300€ the other is about 700€. I think the winner is LG G2, and perhaps S5 never contest with LG G3. What about you? What do you whink?

Opening a phonebook, which, in my opinion is very important if you call a lot and having to wait 2 seconds on a quad or octacore phone - that hurts. LG in this segment didn't let me down. And also all cyanogen - aopk roms don't lag at this segment.

              This review, pardon me, sounds a bit too favorable for S5.

              Till yesteryear, I had no problems with Samsung, in fact, I considered them the best mobile makers ever. Could I be wrong with this statement? Read on....

              Note 3 and Galaxy S5 both had multiple versions, and India always got the inferior one.

              Indian Note 3 had no 4K video recording, and processing suffered. Indian S5 has no 4G which even 250-300 euro phones have nowadays.


              Plus, they kept the pricing at Rs. 50,000... which is too high for an "inferior" version of something big.

              We won't pay 50k for some hero's sidekick. We need the real deal.

              Why Samsung? Why do you make 2 versions and give India the inferior one? WHY??

                I have used LG G2 for three months. Everything works very well processor makes everything work fast and smooth, battery is really excellent works and works!, great HD screen, very good IR remote control the 13 MP camera is very easy and many functions like camera traditional, the design with the operating button in the back I found it so intuitive
                I never used like this awesome phone before and would recommend this smartphone to everyone.

                  In the real world:

                  -Screen:tied
                  G2 have its own gorgeous dispaly and nevere leaves you disappointed

                  -Battery:G2

                  -User interface: S5, unless you flash other cool roms (like the one for g pro2) or install tones of productivty app on google play beside lots of cool productivity features avalible on G2.

                  -Design: Compact body design and cool rocker and power bottun placement AGAINST being water proof and more durable body
                  Hard to choose but l liked S5 a little more.

                  -Camera:
                  Still image:G2
                  After lots of premature praises given, ISOCELL was a disappointment
                  Video: S5
                  Since Lg 4X HD, same defects in recording vids have remained more or less unchanged in lg phones.

                  -Audio:
                  Speakers: S5
                  G2 speaker, dispite of good quality, are Pathetic on the DB side!
                  Headphones: Tied (remembere it's a real world compariosn)

                  -Being friendly with your sweet money: G2!

                    lg g2 shouldn't be compared to s5. obviously s5 is much more advanced specs wise compared to g2.

They are comparing the S5 to many phones and more to come. It's not only comparing to G2 or only because G2 was a God.

                        Incorrect. The S5 has a few large advantages. Technically speaking in terms of display, camera, software, durability, accessibility, audio quality, software updates even the S4 was a better complete package than the G2. G2 just copied many things and tried to match the Galaxy. The only main advantage it had was S800 vs S600.
                        1. Camera is definitely better in S5. Only ones I have seen better overall are 1020, 8o8, and possibly the Zoom.
                        2. Display not even close by a million miles. Not only between the two, but the S5 has the World's best.
                        3.Where did you even come up with those battery numbers????? Not at all what has been shown. And if you use only dark backgrounds and invert the browser the S5 can last even longer than tested. Plus it's user replaceable.
                        4. Design is preference.
                        5. Bezels is not that black and white. Ratio wise with the buttons included the S5 still does quite well.

                        And of course the G2 is cheaper. The S5 just came out and has newer more expensive technology. The S4 is a lot cheaper now too.
                        G2 is a great device indeed. But it's not this God among phones and technically could not truly beat out even the S4 as a package. Just faster.

                          And the Optimus UI in features and looks was basically a Touchwiz rip off look a like.
                          As well as G2 borrowed Galaxy design. But obviously made some changes. However it's still glossy shiny plastic finish people complained about.
                          Some like G Pro 1 and some other cheaper LG's literally just look like a Galaxy. Shape, design, button, and finish.

                                    Put your smartphones in a TPU or hard case and the design doesn't matter. I doubt that most of you carry phones with you without protection. I don't.
                                    I always use screen protector and different cases. When I sell my phone after a year or so, it looks like a new one and I always get the most possible money for it. My point is - it doesn't matter so much if the back is faux leather, glossy plastic or brushed metal in a case all look the same. I owned a lot of Sammys and flashed a lot of roms over it's offical roms because of laggy Touchwiz. I use LG G2 and have no intention to flash something over it, because it doesn't lag. I had s5 in my hands for 15 seconds and it still lags. Open a phonebook and it lasts 2 seconds to display contact. Such a shame. I admit, without a case, S5 looks better, but looking both phones in a case ... almost the same. But still LG is noticably smaller.

                                      Just install gpro 2 rom on g2 and you'll get 4k video, split screen and much more :) if lg implement knock code in the future update it is more usable than fingerprint scanner. Lg has more potential, samsung is expensive
