Nokia N73 review: Pole position

28 August 2006
Being the best equipped handset ever Nokia N73 has managed to overrun the king of all mobiles - the slider Nokia N80. It features Symbian OS, 3 megapixels backed up by the label of Carl Zeiss, USB Mass Storage, and works with office documents. Nokia N73 has a brilliant phonebook and a good time organizer as well as an exceptional Internet browser. The interest in this new Nokia phone is overwhelming worldwide.

        hi GT and thanks GT

Isn't A2DP suppose to be bluetooth version 2, which enables a set to remit music as well because N73 has bluetooth ver 2. Plus if Stereo Headset of Nokia HS 12W can be used on N73 that means it has the capability to remit music in bluetooth form. The headset specifically lists N73(all N series mobiles) in the list.

U can check with the acessories option at Nokia's site.

        Awaiting your feedback again!
        Thanks a bunch buddy!

                        N80:

                        WiFi, High resolution screen

                        N73:

Better battery life, Bigger screen, Stereo speakers, AF, CZ

                        K800i:

Cybershot branding, AF, BestPic, Xenon flash

K800i is totally camera-oriented. N73 strikes a balance between smartphone functionalities and camera quality. N80 focuses more on connectivity. Depending on what you need, get the corresponding phone. IMO, all three phones are superb, but I just prefer the brilliant screen and WiFi connectivity!

We should not compare a smart phone with a simple cell phone. However, both are competitive cameras. I am experiencing both K800i and N73. Please refer to the forthcoming comments:

K800i snaps very nice images but it mostly fails to handle backlighting. It ruins all the background or it lets the photographers to take their dimension even if they dont like it. N73 takes very sharp images and sometimes the color saturation goes beyond natural & actual colors but still it handles all types of backlighting in a very adept manner. With a graphic designing point of view K800i offers dpi only upto 72 whereas N73 provides pictures density up to 300 dpi which allows users to zoom in the taken pictures upto 200-250 % but K800i harldly manages ZOOM IN only upto 100%. This is what makes it very difficult to print the image above the sizeof 4"x6". However, comparing the camera settings and their ease of use, K800i completely beats N73. All the settings are comparable with any good digital camera.

Taking other possibilities, N73 completely spells over SE phone. It got all what any business user could expect from any good smart phone except lacking wi-fi which 90% of the users seldomnly use.

                                forgot one thing:
video recording is pathetic in K800i but really nice in the N73.

I own a K800i since the end of July. I even have the N73 since 2 weeks... Therefore, i guess i have a better comparison b/w both of them...

Photo quality is better in K800i marginally...(i personally prefer K800i for photo taking)

Photo and picture relating buttons are easy and really come in handy in the K800i. N73 is a bit tedious.

Sound quality is slightly better in K800i but is a big turn off for me when it comes to the loudness element. Speakerphone doesn't work loud in driving conditions too, N73 is much better in this regard. With a slightly marginaly low quality voice, which is unnoticeable for many but being much louder, one can enjoy music on the N73 rather than the K800i. I live in Pakistan, karachi, a noisy big city, K800i cannot satisfy my in terms of loudness at all.

Same resolution rendering in both the phones, therefore, bigger size in N73 deteriorates the looks of the pic slightly.

Lens cover at the back of k800i is a pain for me when the cell is in my pockets, it is bound to open every now and then... But it is solid and i can survive with it. No big deal. Its like if u love a ferrari, you can stick with its cons :)

I personally don't like the keybad... I have trouble even after a month of using it while typing messages... Fingers cross buttons all the time, that rarely happens in the N73( a great point for message senders).

Plus, symbian adv. on N73 is i can lock my cell all the time, save my photos and messages folder much well than in K800i.

                                  Conclusion:
K800i is a great phone for photography and i don't mind using it often for that purpose, but voloume loudness and keypads are big turnoff. As compared to N73, N73 has much more to offer than the camera alone. Too many functions in N73. I prefer N73 over K800i despite its disadvantages like lack of rept. alarm and 1 min voice recording only. These are not in my use at all. Well, i just wrote what i felt like.

PS: you people are most welcome to inquire about the two phones. You can ask whatever you feel like. Please contact through emails . If this post has helped you then please do reply and tell me so. Thank you!

I am most likely getting this one soon. After reading the reviews and playing around with it in the store theres only one little thing that left me wondering. It´s about the Ui. How do you go to the main menu from the standby interface (the on where you can see calendar notes and some icons)? It would be apreciated if some user could please reply to this. Thanks.

Listen up you douchebags: better camera does not makes a better phone. kapish?
