Nokia N73 review: Pole position

28 August 2006
Being the best equipped handset ever Nokia N73 has managed to overrun the king of all mobiles - the slider Nokia N80. It features Symbian OS, 3 megapixels backed up by the label of Carl Zeiss, USB Mass Storage, and works with office documents. Nokia N73 has a brilliant phonebook and a good time organizer as well as an exceptional Internet browser. The interest in this new Nokia phone is overwhelming worldwide.

k... here are some answers to Qs if they haven't been answered already... N73 should come in 2 colours; Silver Grey/Deep Plum OR Frost White/Metallic Red. This is according to the Nokia website. So far everyone I've spoken to and everywhere I've been only have the Silver/Plum one available. To copy numbers back n forth (although it normally asks automatically when u put the SIM in), 'Mark' the relevant contacts you want to move and then select 'Copy to SIM direct' and vice versa. And yes u can change the wallpaper if you want. Indeed the phone may be a bit slow and you can't change fascias etc but considering the features it is capable of they're small niggles which can be easily overlooked. I haven't had a Nokia phone in years, and I'm happy to return to what I believe is a quality handset from them. Feature packed, good camera, good sound quality and good battery for a 3G handset.

nokias were the first people to make cellfones but all their new cellfones which has a memory card inside operates too slow when you try to open an application it takes too long to open, nokia is still not improving this problem even if you see the latest N 73 or N 80 or N 91 still the same problem, runs too slow.few of the new nokia cellfones are made in such a way that you cant change the faceplates on it.i was so happy before that nokia were making a common charger pin size for all the modesl but these days they have a different pin so its not universal anymore.

      Just got this phone.
Does anyone know if there is a message counter in the phone and also if there is a way to copy all contacts at once from sim to phone and vise versa.

      Thanks

Relax boys. All phones are good....buy this which can make you smile...In my opinion if you can't afford a N93 try a N73 or the N80.To be honest K800 is also a very good choise.

hey!!...the photo comaprison shows that the digital vibrance on a N73 is better than the others....but it seems to me that the photos are clearer than k800 and d900. is it just me??

i know this may seem like a stupid question but the answer is make or break for me. How customizable is this phone? Can i change the background on the stand-by screen and the screensaver? please let me know. thanks.

Whats on about this phone is that it only has a little bigger screen than the N80. BUT the resolution on the screen is almost about half of the N80's so it is not so crystal clear as the N80. That makes the pixels to be big and seen with the bare eye !

                      A Sony Ericsson look-a-like - it's UGLY !
WHY does it have Carl Zeiss Optics when you
can't even see the difference in the pics ???
N80 is the BEST phone on the market
including the best camera (without even
having to have 'Carl Zeiss') (and even BETTER than the SE w800i which gives the best quality photos on the market - upto now) and the highest
quality screen. 100% VOTE for the King of ALL mobiles !!!

Hiya. Anyone know how to have full screen wallpapers, change the screensaver or have the voice recorder work for more than 1min?? I have a 6280 as well and it is odd the series 40 phone seems to work better in these departments.

hi yoyo, got to remind you that there's quite a lot of differences between N73 & N80, such as N73's lens is Carl Zeiss but N80 is not. Plus the size of N80 is bigger than N73. I don't think you would like to put N80 into the front pocket of your pants unless you want to show the others that you got an extra piece of equipments between your legs there.

you are crazy if you think that N73 is better than N80.It is more than obvious that N80 has better screen resolution than N73,and except for autofocus everything else is the same! Not to mention cheap look of N73,especially its joypad.N80 is still the king, you can say whatever you want, but that is the fact... :)

i've had a N73 for a week. Everything is just perfect. It comes with 128Mb memory card but i don't need it bcause i'll upgrade to 1 or 2 GB.
The reception and the call quality is good, just like other modern Nokia phones. The camera is so fantastic (at least same quality with the Cybershoot phone K800i). The music is great also, but i recommend u to have a adapter for the 3,5mm headphone, it would be perfect. Anyway, the headphone included is also a good one. The sound through the sterio speaker phone is very good, clear and loud (But still not as good as in the Nokia 6233). The battery is much better than in the N80, I can use it for 3 days (heavily used)
As a matter of taste, i like it much better than the K800i which i also use sometimes. The fact is the N73 has everything that the K800i offers plus the Symbian 9.0, better sterio speaker phone, better screen, much better video recording (k800i sucks in this area). That's why it's just much more interesting than K800i. K800i is also a very good function phone, however i can say that the N73 is the best mobile so far.
                                Recommend to everyone!
