Nokia XL Dual SIM review: Start to Finnish

02 May 2014
The Nokia XL goes where Asha never dared, 5" screen territory. Windows Phone itself only recently got there, but the Nokia X family is really an extension of touchscreen Asha "smartphones" rather than a failsafe in case Windows Phone get...

Nokia with Android ? Ok but it's too late around 4-5 years...thanks to Elop.

Jack, 03 May 2014Still pales into insignificance compared to the Z3 BlackberryI never use a blackberry ever before. So, I can't make a comment of that. But, honestly speaking the lumia 521 is pretty good for its price. Too bad, Nokia only upgraded the CPU and screen size of that the new lumia(521) →635! The front facing camera is a must have for all smartphones even it is a low-end one.

Cause I find lumia 521 is better than the X and XL. And for the CPU, well if it can't run on the window phone then they can change it to a working one. Anyway, the new lumia 635 is a upgrade version of the lumia 521 and it heading to t-mobile to replace the lumia 521, but the only thing "upgraded" at the lumia 635 is a bigger screen. And it's gonna cost more than the X and XL.
The lumia 635 got no flash, no front facing camera, still 512 ram.( only the upgraded the screen from 4 to 4.5 and CPU.) But the XL for $150, got 5inch screen, flash, front facing camera, 7XX ram. If only Nokia make the lumia 635 4.5 or 5 inch screen with front facing camera and 1G ram. And sell it under $200. It's the best of best deal.

Slim, 02 May 2014Better to buy the new Blackberry Z3 at these sort of prices... moreWas about to post the same, its insane to buy Nokia over the BB Z3, much better CPU dual core Krait pushing an OS that is smooth by nature, twice the RAM, 8GB storage, qHD display, Adreno 305, runs lots of Android apps and so on and on.

The Z3 will offer flagship UI performance at under $200 while the Nokia XL has so low performance and bad OS that the stutters are stuttering and the lag will destroy your every awaken moment.

Almost forgot to mention the excellent BlackBerry 10 webbrowser, its one of the best for sure, maybe THE best, and of course totally superior to the crap Nokia Android browser.

This article is slightly misleading. The limitations mentioned are due to the hardware design and not the Asha OS. All Asha phones with model numbers less than 500 are S40 based OS and not Asha 1.x platform.

The Asha 1.0 OS is a complete re-write, utilizing the Smarterphone OS. The OS has full multi-tasking capabilities, however only a few of the application are allowed to multi-task due to the low hardware specifications. At the heart of the OS is a Linux kernel (from Nokia's Meltemi R&D team).

it has same gpu adreno 203 but with higher cpu clock and better energy efficient. and for this RAM it should use kitkat instead of jellybean

nokia just want extra cash by giving customer 2 years old chipset with small battery, no protection for big screen is no-no
