HTC Desire 816 review: Heart's desire

21 May 2014
HTC has mostly stayed out of the phablet market but the segment is expanding so fast the Taiwanese can’t afford to keep snubbing it. The HTC Desire 816 is only the company's second phablet and it’s the first affordable one. It rides on the premium looks...

Looks nice but non-removable battery is no go for me.

In my city there's only one HTC service center and it's pretty far, last time it took me 3 hours just to buy spare battery for my old Desire.
With non-removable battery means I have to go to service center at least twice, just to replace battery. Sorry but no.

The bezel still looks uneven (wider bottom than top), but it's acceptable.
HTC please make another Desire like this one but with removable battery then I'm sold.

Simply amazing, ((if only the internal storage is more than just 8GB,I know it has a micro SD card slot which is great for the multimedia content but 8GB isn't enough for people who likes gaming on their phone "like me" )).
but over all great work HTC.

i stopped reading at "The back of the Desire 816 is not
removable, so you don't have access to
              the 2,600mAh Li-Po battery."

Unfortunate HTC puts a better camera in a midranger than a flagship. It's worth noting that many of those who tried the Desire 816 has reported a decent battery life, as opposed to GSMArena review... I'll buy this beauty soon..
Btw, I contacted HTC, and they confirmed the screen is chemically treated to be scratch resistant, not scratch proof. It's less durable than Gorilla glass but tougher than normal, unprotected screens.

Am I the only one who prefers this design over the M8?

Proven sony bsi sensor is better than shitty ultrapixel .

Good review, but I do not agree with the sound loudness. Actually the speakers are very very loud and the sound is very clear.
                              Perfect phone for the price.

Lol this phone's camera is miles better than the flagship 4MP UP pixel rubbish. The Battery life is also very good for the size. This is a HTC phone, for a change, I can actually recommend to someone.
